Mariachi anyone? Try La Fuente Mexican restaurant. Vivace - Italian, Hidden Valley Inn -American, Cafe Poca Cosa - gourmet Mexican, Cafe Terra Cotta - contemporary Southwestern, Conti's - family owned Northern Italian cousine., Samurai - non-pretentious every day Japanese food, I love Sushi - Sushi bar and much more
Fantastic Mexican Cuisine. Not your traditional mexican fare but a wide mixture of spices, types of food all presented beautifully with a nice salad on the side.
Favorite Dish: The Chef's Choice (a mixture of three of the entrees)
Actually Kaye & I have 2 favorite restaurants. One Oriental and the other Mexican. The Oriental one is called Panda House Stir Fry and is located on the SE corner of Ina Road and Thornydale. It is mainly a buffet where the food is cooked on huge Mongolian woks. It is also very healthy because there is no oil used in the cooking unless you add it. And then it is sesame oil.
The Mexican restaurant is called Casa Molina and although there is more than one in Tucson, our favorite one is on Campbell Avenue between Fort Lowell and Blacklidge. We try to go only when our favorite waiter is there. His name is Arturo and not only is he very helpful, but he has a great sense of humor.
The price of all meals at both restaurants is what we consider to be inexpensive. The atmosphere is the best at Casa Molina where the ceiling is covered with 'ribs' from dead sahuaro cacti. On the walls there are many paintings but in the main dining room there is one on the west wall that is spectacular.
Favorite Dish: As to what our favorite items are in either restaurant is very difficult to answer. ALL the food is good at both restaurants. But we would recommend one thing that you would be remiss in not ordering from Casa Molina's place. It is a dessert called 'sopapillas.' They look sort of like pita bread that has been deep fried to a golden brown and arrives at the table piping hot. Have an order of them with the honey poured all over them! DEE-licious!
The Silver Saddle serves large portions of steak. It has a very limited menu if you want something else. Very good margaritas.
Favorite Dish: My cousin swears by the steak. The chicken is okay.
Gourmet Pizza and Sam Adams Beer. I have not eaten here and have heard mixed reviews. Hope to provide firsthand review soon. Popular hangout for U of A students.
La Indita serves typical Mexican food, like burritos, enchiladas, etc. I have not tried here yet.
Favorite Dish: I don't know yet, hope to try it soon.
Caruso's is an Italian Restaurant serving various chicken, veal, and pasta dishes, along with pizza. I have not tried here yet; but I have heard it is quite good. Popular hangout for U of A students.
We were part of a large catered group here, and it was a nice place for that. Good Steak.
But I just found their website, and it says that they are now closed......
Western atmosphere and cute with miniature stuff.
They also have western stage show or magic.
Nice bar & Nice view of the Catalina Mountains.
Favorite Dish: Prime Rib!
You can have your meal indoors or outside on a covered patio.
Favorite Dish: Any mexican food and margaritas...I ate way too much...as usual!
