Pico de gallo: Pico de gallo

by mrtidypaws Updated Aug 25, 2002

The food at Pico de Gallo is simple and fresh. The tortillas are made to order and you can bring your own beer. Although it is just a hole-in-the-wall taqueria, it surpasses all the more popular nearby eateries by far- in other words, it kicks Mi Nidito's ass.

    Favorite Dish: Shrimp tacos

  • Cafe Poca Cosa: Cafe Poca Cosa

    by bombshelter2 Written Aug 25, 2002

True Mexico City style food. Not mexican food. With a menu that changes everyday, Suzanne always has an interesting menu of chicken, beef, fish, sometimes pork, and vegatarian dishes. The best part is the Poca Cosa Plate where they select three items from the menu. You can't go wrong. Margarita's are exquisite also.

Favorite Dish: Any chicken Mole dish

Fantastic Mexican Cuisine. Not your traditional mexican fare but a wide mixture of spices, types of food all presented beautifully with a nice salad on the side.

Favorite Dish: The Chef's Choice (a mixture of three of the entrees)

Actually Kaye & I have 2 favorite restaurants. One Oriental and the other Mexican. The Oriental one is called Panda House Stir Fry and is located on the SE corner of Ina Road and Thornydale. It is mainly a buffet where the food is cooked on huge Mongolian woks. It is also very healthy because there is no oil used in the cooking unless you add it. And then it is sesame oil.
The Mexican restaurant is called Casa Molina and although there is more than one in Tucson, our favorite one is on Campbell Avenue between Fort Lowell and Blacklidge. We try to go only when our favorite waiter is there. His name is Arturo and not only is he very helpful, but he has a great sense of humor.
The price of all meals at both restaurants is what we consider to be inexpensive. The atmosphere is the best at Casa Molina where the ceiling is covered with 'ribs' from dead sahuaro cacti. On the walls there are many paintings but in the main dining room there is one on the west wall that is spectacular.

Favorite Dish: As to what our favorite items are in either restaurant is very difficult to answer. ALL the food is good at both restaurants. But we would recommend one thing that you would be remiss in not ordering from Casa Molina's place. It is a dessert called 'sopapillas.' They look sort of like pita bread that has been deep fried to a golden brown and arrives at the table piping hot. Have an order of them with the honey poured all over them! DEE-licious!

Silver Saddle Steakhouse: Mesquite Grilled Steak

by Basaic Written Aug 26, 2008

The Silver Saddle serves large portions of steak. It has a very limited menu if you want something else. Very good margaritas.

Favorite Dish: My cousin swears by the steak. The chicken is okay.
