Yucca Army Airfield was purchased in 1954 by Ford Motor Company and along with 4,000 acres if land, it was turned into the Arizona Proving Ground. Chrysler purchased it in 2007 for 35 million.

When we stopped to take a look at the spaceship or sphere house, I noticed the track in the distance. It kind of look so sureal in the distance, especially with a vehicle driving on the track. We have several proving grounds in our area. So it is interesting to see when they have next years models all covered up and hauling along the freeway.

This structure looks something from out of this world. Yet, at one time it was meant to be a club and restaurant for some land development. Sadly it the business went bust and this ball of a building sat uncompleted and lonely. It wasn't till Hank and Ardell Schimmel who were quite successful in their own business endevors bought it in 1981. They remodeld it to accomodate them in 1991 into a 3,400 square foot home that consist of three levels.

Now it sits greeting earth bound travelers along Hwy 40 reminding us that having a sense of humor and imagination. Home is always where the heart is.
