Yuma is growing up...many new places and restaurants have come to the area.
I had the Fried Mahi Mahi Platter (mini) which is fish filet fried to golden brown (served with tartar sauce) with 1 scoop of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. Mi Rancho is a good Tex-Mex restaurant that is in central Yuma. The decor is nice and the staff is attentive and very courteous. It is a sit-down place, they offer cervezas mexicanas y cervezas norte americanas.
I had a combo plate with a relleno, beef tostada and bean burro with salsa verde. All were very good and fairly spicy. I didn't have to reach for extra chipotle or habenjero salsa. Believe me, me encanto mi comidas Mexicanas muy calor! I find most Tex-Mex restaurantes en el Norte very mucho lacking in heat! Their burros and other dishes looked very appetizing as well. I would say this is a good place to take a date or someone who wants fairly authentic Mexican food. This place seems to be closer than most. I got this recommendation from one of the locals and they were right...it's one of the best Mexican restaurants in Yuma. That's saying a lot since Yuma is only a 10 -15 minute drive from Mexico. The food is delicious, the ambience reminds you of Mexico and the atmosphere is traditional.
I started off with fresh tortilla chips and medium/hot salsa. For dinner, I selected the Carne Asada (flank steak cooked to medium doness, mexican rice, salad, refried beans and pico de gallo. I had a margarita on the rocks with Patron Tequila...so, so good!!! This is a local establishment that has won many awards for excellent food and service. The surroundings are nothing to write home about, but you go for the food and choices rather than the ambience.
I selected the Chicken & Beef Rice Bowl (with white rice and spicy teriyaki). Leave a Comment Theme: Japanese/SushiPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: 2770 S. 4th AvenuePhone: (928) 726-1788

This is a very good family restaurant with generous portions and reasonable prices for this area. This is a good place to go with a family and if you are on a budget. There is a children's menu and they have specials every day for everyone on selected items, i.e.: Tuesday and Friday is AYCE fish complete dinner $8 USD. Includes soup or salad, fries and cole slaw. We arrived about 8 pm that Friday, and it was still crowded, rather than wait for a table, we sat at the counter, as almost no one was sitting there. Service was swift and friendly, even tho the crowd was still large and the place closed at 9 pm. (Many restaurants in Yuma are not open very late-even on weekends, make a note of this night owls!) I thought we were well taken care of and the food was very good. I would recommend this place for a casual place to eat by early evening.
I tried the AYCE fish on Friday that we ate there. The fish had a nice crunchy, chicken fried steak-sytle coating. I was given three big pieces of whitefish that I could barely finish, let alone order any more! With the fish came a large order of fries and cole slaw, I also could have gotten soup or salad with the meal, but they ran out of soup, so I asked for, and received, a double order of slaw, which was very good. My son had a club sandwich, which was quite large and well stacked with turkey, bacon, cheese and ham. It also came with fries and a salad. He said it was very good. The menu also claimed to have ribs, chicken fried steak and other southern specialties, like grits for breakfast. I didn't eat there again this trip, but will probably do so if I have the opportunity to go to Yuma again as I was well pleased with the food and service and am curious as to what their other dishes are like. A place where you can create your own burrito and taco.
I selected the Carnitas Burrito (grilled pork, rice, sour cream, salsa, refried beans, lettuce and mild sauce wrapped in a huge tortilla). If you plan to stop in Yuma for lunch, then most tour coaches stop here. This photo was taken in 1997 and the price of the buffet (for coach tours) was $5.95. each. This time we visited in 2003 = the price for those on the tour coach was - $5.95. each. Senior's also are given discounts. Photo M. Johnson
all food was good, at a great price. No fancy table cloths, but good wholesome food. Leave a Comment Theme: BuffetPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterAddress: Main street areaDirections: en route to Pheonix.
