Batesville is a city of commercial growth, especially along the four-lane East-West corridor of Harrison Street, which is also Highway 69. This is the area where new businesses are being constructed at an astonishing rate and therefore there is some congestion from time to time.
Batesville's two main streets that serve the historic downtown area are ONE WAY STREETS. We can always tell when someone is from out of town when we meet them coming head-on at us.
Main street is one way going west from it's intersection of St. Louis St./Hwy 167 n. until it dead ends.
College avenue is one way going east from it's intersection of State Street to it's intersection with St. Louis/Hwy 167.
There's not much, danger, crime or exicitement in small town America but the fishing is good and the Sunsets are magnificent.
