I received information about a change in hours, which I changed and was also told that their menu has expanded since I visited. See their web site.
A delightful surprise while in Bentonville, Arkansas was the discovery of a fantastic place to eat, especially for lunch. It is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Closed on Sundays They do not take credit cards; there is no nonsmoking section, and no alcoholic beverages are sold.
Right on the square across from the small park center, you will find a modest place called The Filling Station Cafee [ also called "The Station"] that is constantly busy. There are tables set outside for the overflow crowds.
You stand in line and order your food; you are given a number; when you order is complete, your number will be called.
What attracted us to this cafe? We saw two women sitting outside at the outdoor tables eating the most delicious are large cheese steakburgers ever! We asked them about the food, and they raved on and on. Thus, we decided to give it a try. We were not sorry for that decision.
There are tables and booths inside; the ceilings are very tall, and the floor, if I recall, is wooden. It's not fancy at all. The women who work behind the counter are patient, friendly, and quite efficient. All in all, it was a delightful experience, especially the food.
Favorite Dish: We would certainly suggest that you tried the famous steakburgers or steak/cheeseburgers. They are huge, tender, and delicious. I would also suggest that you try the Grilled cheese sandwich...a wonderful thick bread with oozing, melting cheese. It was not at all greasy. Instead, it was golden brown and fixed to perfection with a large dill spear on the side.
Another suggestion would be to try the milkshakes...old fashioned delight.
I cannot remember everything on the menu, but there was great variety; at least 30-35 items!
The menu is printed on a large board at the rear of the counter.
Oscar's Steakhouse in Rogers, AR is quite possibly my favorite restaurant ever. I highly recommend the steaks, but also you must try the au gratin potatoes. They are to die for. You receive your own dish of potatoes, mixed with delicious sour cream, cheese, scallions, and bacon, covered in cheese and then baked/broiled so that the top is crispy/cheesy delicious! They are legendary around here.
Also, if you go to oscarssteakhouse.com, you can print out a coupon for $5.00 off per person! I usually order the sirloin with au gratin potatoes, which comes with salad and bread, for $17.50. With the coupon, I pay only $12.50 for the best meal in town. My husband and I love to go here, because we save $10.00 every time. The steakhouse directly across the parking lot (a peanut-shells-on-the-floor kind of place), has a lower quality of food, less attractive ambience, and higher prices (no coupon).
Oscar's is a very elegant place. We have not tried to take our kids there - yet. I'm sure they would be welcome, but it is really an "evening out" kind of place. Highly, highly recommend.
Favorite Dish: See above
For a really fine dining experience in the Northwestern Arkansas area, try Oscar's Prime Rib & Steakhouse in Rogers, Arkansas. They are known for their quality prime rib, hand carved and perfectly aged.
Since Prime Rib is one of Allan's favorites, it was the perfect place; I, on the other hand, am not fond of it, I was more than satisfied with the Midwestern grain fed filet grilled over hickory charcoal.
If you do not like beef, don't fret; they also serve seafood, chicken, lamb, and pork.
Oscar's is located in the fun Scottsdale Center [which also has about ten other great places to eat as well as numerous great places to shop.]
This restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and
Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p. m.
I wish that I had taken a photo inside because Oscar's is quite elegant inside. The HUGE bar is quite impressive.
service is another positive about this restaurant...it's "old fashioned" kind of fine dining where the staff takes time and effort to please.5s*
Favorite Dish: Oscar's Prime Rib & Steakhouse has a very comprehensive menu that includes such appetizers as Roasted tomato Salsa, Sauteed Mushrooms, Cajun Sauteed Shrimp, Crabcakes Remoulade, and Lobster Quesadilla. Their Salads include Caesar, Oscar the Greek, Sesame Chicken Salad, and Blackened Steak Salad among others. However, all entrees are served with a garden salad, choice of baked potato, french fries, rice pilaf, garlic mashed potatoes or vegetable medley.
Prime Rib comes in either Petite, Regular, King, or Oscar's Ultimate Bone-in Cut. Other steak choices include: Chopped, Top Sirloin, New York Strip, Shish Kebob, Ribeye, T-Bone, Filet Mignon [2 sizes], New York Strip and New York Strip Bone-in, Ribeye, and Porterhouse.

Furthermore, you also can choose Alfredo Penne, Shrimp Pesto Penne, Chicken Piccatta, Marinated Pork Chops, Lamb Chops, or Chargrilled Chicken..
They offer many Sides such as Cole Slaw, Vegetable Medley, French Fries, baked, or Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus with Hollandaise, Steamed Broccoli, or Twice Baked Au Gratin.
They are also known for great steak burgers and other sandwiches. I'm always interested in Desserts, and their list is grand: Chocolate Cake, Stuffed Apple Crisp, Ozark Mt. Brownie, Cashew Crunch Cheesecake, Creme Brulee, and Ajpple Pie..
Just remembering all the offerings, makes me hungry.
Allan was looking in the local advertisements and came across an unusual restaurant called Monte Ne Inn. It's located about 4 miles East of Rogers and about 9 miles from Bella Vista.
Monte Ne Inn is only open in the evenings from 5:00 p.m. until about 9:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and on Sunday from 12 Noon until 9:00 p.m. Closed on Mondays
The food is served "family style" and consists of a chicken dinner with all the trimmings...nothing else. People come from miles around to try this unique restaurant.
Note: You must have reservations or you will be waiting in line for an hour or more!
We made reservations for 5:00 p.m., and by the time we left, the place was jam-packed.
The menu consists of home-made white bean soup [it was delicious but with hardly a whole bean in sight!]. It comes in a crock; fresh fried chicken with a combination of dark and white meat [for $1.00 more, white meat only can be added]; mashed potatoes with cream gravy; cole slaw [which, by the way, was fantastic]; delicious seasoned string green beans; sweet corn; a loaf of home baked bread [with creamery butter and wonderful homemade apple butter]. That's it. Oh, yes, you can have all the chicken you want.
If you order tea, coffee, or soft drink, they constantly refill your glass/cup.
In addition, we ordered [for extra cost] homemade blackberry cobbler with ice cream.
Needless to say, we left stuffed!
Favorite Dish: My favorites were the Cole Slaw, Home Baked Bread and Apple Butter, the Bean Soup, and the Blackberry Cobbler.
Allan ordered more chicken and asked for dark meat, which he prefers.
The service was as excellent as the food.
For an inexpensive but delicious Chinese meal, the Chen's Garden Buffet is a good call. It is clean; the waitresses are efficient, and the food is hot and plentiful.
It is open Monday through Sunday from 10:30 am- 9:30 pm.
The LUNCH BUFFET is open from Monday through Saturday from 10:30 am-4:00 pm and costs only $5.39.
The DINNER BUFFET is open from Monday through Saturday from 4:00 pm-9:30 pm and costs only $6.89
Sunday is an all-day dinner buffet and cost $6.89.
Children between 4-10 years pay $3.59 for the Lunch Buffet and $4.50 for the Dinner Buffet.
There is also a regular menu which you can order from or you can take out.
Favorite Dish: Some of my favorites from the Dinner Buffet are:
Spring roll as opposed to the Egg Roll because it is smaller and more crisp.
Boneless Spare Ribs; Cheese Wonton; and Chicken on a Stick...all excellent.
We tried the Egg Drop Soup and loved it.
I was somewhat dissappointed with the vegetable fried rice because it was
They offered all kinds of shrimp and chicken dishes such as Shrimp Lo Mein, Shrimp Chow Mein, Cashew Shrimp, Sweet & Sour Shrimp, Italian Shrimp [which was the very best] and Fried Shrimp or Chicken Lo Mein, Chicken Chow Mein, Chicken with Broccoli, and Cashew Chicken.
The Sauteed String Green Beans were fantastic.
We were surprised at the number of desserts that were offered such as Neopolitan Ice Cream, Almond Cookies, chocolate pudding, and rice pudding.
We were absolutely "stuffed" after eating at the Chen's Garden Buffet with its good Chinese cuisine.
