De Witt had a small but proud farmer's market. They had a variety of fresh vegetables and the people were very friendly. I really enjoyed standing around and chatting with them.
De Witt has a small histroic district of buildings from the late 1800s and the early 1900s surrounding the courthouse.
DeWitt (or De Witt) is the county seat of Arkansas County and has a population approaching 4000. The county court house is located a couple of blocks from the highway. I found it to be a pleasant little town with a pleasant poulace and a nice historic district. The courthouse was built in 1932 using the Art Deco Style of architacture. Interestingly, the town name came from writing three proposed names on slips of paper and drawing them from a hat.
Lizzie's is a nice small town place frequented mostly by locals. It is located in one of the old buildings, 1922, located around the Court House Square. It has a pressed tin roof which was popular during that timeframe and frosted glass windows. It is owned by a man and his wife (Lizzie?). I had breakfast there and the food was fine. The owner was talkative and friendly.
Favorite Dish: I had two eggs and bacon with grits. It was good.
