While driving north towards Branson, MO, we passed Jasper. We went to the jail, which looked like it was not in use anymore (because it was old and small) but was told that it was in use! The prisoners are there mostly for very short spans of time, but one had been there for a few months. Talk to the guards about what crimes are going on at that time.

saw50st8 Says: Although I did not stay here, I did pass by. The motel proudly offers many facilities, including phones! Wow, now thats a stretch (it also has tv remotes, pool and cabin rentals, not nearly as impressive as the phones though)

Jasper is a pleasant little town on near the Buffalo River, the first National Scenic Waterway. South of Jasper, the roads climbs to this viewpoint over the valley.

Jasper is a very small town in the northern part of arkansas , The people are friendly , hill folks . there are a couple hotels , and a resteraunt or two, a "C"store and a grocery store . THATS IT ....
Took 19 boys and 5 other adults to Boy Scout summer camp at Camp Orr near Jasper Ar, Great weather (for summer) and good company in a beautiful setting. Ticks, Chiggers and poison ivy are frequent...
