Passenger trains don't run through Mena, Arkansas any more. However, the old Kansas City Southern railroad depot, first built in 1920, has been fully restored and is now called the Mena Depot Center. The old depot houses the town's Chamber of Commerce, a Visitors Center, and a small but interesting historical museum. Underneath a covered area on the front of the building is a restored 1939 Dodge police car, partially visible in this photo.
This is the perfect first stop in Mena, where visitors can learn about the many interesting things to see or do in and around this small city in the Ouachita Mountains of western Arkansas.

Mena is also the closest town of any size to the very beautiful Queen Wilhelmina State Park (see my page coming soon).

Frankly, I liked the Mena City Hall better than the Polk County Court House. The city hall was built in 1917 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
