The ticket line

When a famous entertainer performs and the public is aware of it, the turnout may be enormous, even in an "Off the Beaten Path" place like Mountain View. Tickets were obtainable without going to the Box Office. This line outside the Performance Center shows how foolish it would be not to have obtained tickets ahead (especially if you drove 2 1/2 hours from Little Rock to attend ).It is Saturday afternoon as well. The same advice applies if you plan to stay overnight. You have to know where accomodations might be available.

Stores on Monday. Aghost town!

It was high season 2005. All my European experiences should have made me look. It was such a balmy Monday that we decided to drive over to Mountain View and partake of the fun. We did NOT look in any book (and it does not appear in VT!!. )The people in Mountain View are laid back. The stores close at 5-5:30 PM, the tourists can "git out"! Everything is closed on Sunday and Monday (see picture). Most things are also closed Tuesday. Check what nights the musical performances you might wish to attend are open (Friday and Saturday are open for sure). And this was mid-July.

You MAY just fall in love with this town. A fellow guest (from Florida) at the Inn was on his fifteenth visit, and has now purchased two parcels of land, one on a lake, another on top of a hill overlooking a beautiful river valley. He is now trying to decide on which to build his home. The cost of living here is low, especially taxes. However, it should be noted that many can not make the adjustment to the laid-back lifestyle and/or will not fit in with the long-time residents.
