The Sushi House: Great sushi (but looong wait time)
Almost all locals agree that The Sushi House has great sushi at very reasonable price. The rolls are sumptuous and come in large portions. The Lion King roll, the poki roll, and the Alameda roll are all good choices anytime.
Beware though - there is always a long wait time. Count on at least one hour wait if you have a group of 3 or more. For one or two people, ask to sit at the sushi bar & you'll likely be seated right away. Another good choice is to call in your order for later pick-up. You'll still have to wait about 45 minutes but at least you get to wait at home.
As busy as the restaurant is, there is bound to be service problems. The wait-staff are harried and don't add much personality to their service -- it's perfunctory and rushed. Your patience will be tested.
Overall, if you can weather the long wait and spotty service, the Sushi House is a good place to visit - maybe once a month. Otherwise, you might try

East Buffet: Worst restaurant/buffet in town!
This restaurant has my vote for the worst restaurant in Alameda. The food is not "cheap chinese" food. It's "bad, faux chinese food." The flavors are simulated, barely passing for asian food. The sushi are laughable - you're better off eating the plastic display ones. The price is also higher than other buffets in Alameda (most notably, Genghis Khan, a buffet restaunt on Park Street, which offers really good cheap asian food.
Favorite Dish: Absolutely nothing on their menu is worth trying. Even their sodas taste funny.Related to:
