What to do after a tiring whole day fun and jaunt at Disneyland? what else but eat a hearty meal. Being so hungry means finding a good place and familiar place to eat nearby and whats more hearty meal than all day breakfast waffles and everything else of the renowned IHOP (International House of Pancakes). We have to thank enterpreneur Jerry Lapin of Los Angeles who founded this wonderful pancakes & breakfast & everything else diner cum restaurant in 1958.

Opens: Sunday through Thursday 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday 7:00 a.m. to
12:00 midnight.

Favorite Dish: what else but the good ole waffles (they did not have the name IHOP for nothing you know) of the buttermilk kind (i still prefer the original than ones with toppings) and whats more heartier meal than a 12 ounce T-Bone steak with potatoes! yum yum, my stomach is churning and to top it off with french crepes and a cup of capuccino, such pure indulgence (and more so since my friend is the one footing the bill) what more to ask for!

In-N-Out Burger: Best Burgers Ever!!!
Camping_Girl profile photo

3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Camping_Girl 347 reviews

The In-N-Out Burger restaurant chain can be found all over southern California, they are legendary to locals and practically unheard of by non-locals. The menu items here are pretty basic - burgers, fries, shakes & soda. But what many tourists don't know about is the secret menu that exists at In-N-Out Burger. There are all sorts of secret codes that you can use to get your burger exactly how you want it. For example, a double-double is 2 patties, 2 slices of cheese. You can order a 3x3 which is 3 patties/3 cheese (yikes!), and there is even such a thing as a 4x4! If you order your burger "protein" style, it is served wrapped in lettuce, instead of in a bun. There are others as well. Here is a link to the secret menu:

in-n-out

The prices here are extremely cheap. My son and I find the burgers and fries so large that we usually share an order of fries.

AND! They are open late - until 1:00 am Sunday thru Thursday and 1:30 am on weekends.

Favorite Dish: The burgers at In-N-Out are excellent, one of the best fast-food burgers I've ever tasted. The burgers are made fresh to order - no pre-freezing and NO microwaves! Fries are hand-cut all day long. They even bake their own buns! My favorite is Animal style, complete with fried onions.

In-N-Outs can be found all over the place, but the one that we always make a stop at when we're in Anaheim is the one in Fullerton. You go north on Harbour Blvd to Orangethorpe, about a 15 minute drive. It is just north of the intersection of Harbour & Orangethorpe, on the east side of the street. An added bonus is that the Disney Character Warehouse is directly across the street from this location, so you can stop in there as well!

Tony Roma's: Waste of time

Definitely not worth the money. The three of us went to Tony Roma's to have a nice dinner,, well,,, not only did it take almost 2 hours to get our food,, one of our order's was wrong. The food was very bland with small portions and over priced, the service was very poor. We should have known by how few people were in the restaurant. I would say to anyone,, save your money and go elsewhere, this place was the worse place we ate at during our 2 week visit in Anaheim.

We loved Millies at Anaheim. I know it is a chain restaurant but the wait staff here were fabulous and it was in an awesome position between our hotel and Disneyland. We ate their at all hours and always got a table pretty quickly and were treated well.

Favorite Dish: Probably the breakfasts were my favourite. SOOOO big we usually didn't eat again until about 4pm! Love my bacon and eggs.

Mind you another favourite was teh macaroni cheese and I also loved their cornbread.

I love coming to eat here when I am in the area. My favorite dish is the fajitas. Which are marinated strips of steak grilled with bell peppers and onions and marinated just right.
The kids like coming here for the whole atmosphere of being in a jungle. Sometimes when the animals come to life it could be scary for some younger kids but the older kids really enjoy it.

Rainforest Cafe: Rainforest Cafe

The call of the wild, or jungle, beckons you to dine at this location situated towards the front of Downtown Disney.

Make your reservations early, I made mine one month in advance and got the last one for the day in question. However, we showed up a little bit early and was seated sooner than our reservation time.

While you are waiting, there is an extensive gift shop to browse. Most of the items are, cheap, but there are some interesting Rainforest Cafe souvies to pick up. If you're wondering what 'free gift' you receive with the brochure you pick up, a wristband keychain. Not bad.

I was a little disappointed in the accessibility of the restaurant. It was very crowded and tables were practically on top of each other, therefore you were literally inches away from the party next to you.

We requested to be seated on the most active floor, the floor where the storm is more intense and the animals come alive. I'm used to the Rainforest Cafe in San Antonio, Tx. where animals line the walls and the entire restaurant has something coming alive and the atmosphere more in line with a jungle. This restaurant was lacking that quality. There were two elephants and three gorrillas, nothing else. The storm was weak, there was no ceiling to make you feel like you were looking up at the stars. One thing it did have was a patio outside of the temple, but what good is that with the view being a shopping complex.

The whole point of going to the Rainforest Cafe is the atmosphere. The food is never that great, and with this location having a lackluster atmosphere, I had to wonder if this was a cheap knock off of the real Rainforest Cafe, it wasn't. I think we will go to San Antonio instead, and next time in Downtown Disneyland, we will dine elsewhere.

Favorite Dish: It was so drab, I honestly do not remember what I ordered.

The Blue Bayou: Disneyland's The Blue Bayou
starrlot profile photo
starrlot 79 reviews

This restaurant is really a hidden treasure in Disneyland. When you visit, you must dine at this location. If you do not know what to expect, ride the Pirates of the Caribbean and at the beginning going through the bayou, you will be able to see for yourself.

Seeing is one thing, however, experiencing firsthand is another. May I suggest making reservation way in advance, I made mine a month in advance and that was cutting is very close.

It is lit only by candles and the moonlight from the bayou on the ride. Being a New Orleans regular, it truly does feel like you are dining on the bayou under the moonlight.

The waitstaff is friendly and service exceptional. It is comfortable and a place to escape, you really do not feel you are in Disneyland, with the exception of screams coming from the PoC ride when the boats go down the first drop, but this is amusing rather than annoying.

Favorite Dish: Roasted chicken with scalloped potatoes (THE BEST!)

Blue Bayou: A Must for a Disneyland Trip

Blue Bayou is a restaurant located in New Orleans Square inside Disneyland. It is the restaurant that you float by at the beginning of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" ride. The wonderful thing about the Blue Bayou is that you feel like you are eating outdoors on the waterfront of a Louisana bayou at night...no matter what time of the day it is! The sky is dark, the stars are shining, crickets are chirping, and fireflies fly by. You also hear the peaceful swish of the water as the boats go by. My husband and I have eaten here 6 times and every dish has been delicious. The service is also excellent. It's the best restaurant at Disneyland and especially great for a romantic dinner. Though keep in mind that Disneyland is for families so even Blue Bayou has many kids and the riders on "Pirates of the Caribbean" occassionally yell when floating by the restaurant. The paper pirate hats that my sister and I are wearing in the photo is the kids' menu. If you want one, just ask. =) The restaurant is pricer than other dining options at Disneyland but it's worth it for a one-of-a-kind experience! This restaurant is ALWAYS booked so don't expect to walk up on a weekend and get a table. Make reservations in advance by calling Disney Dining at (714) 781-3463.

Ariel's Grotto: Princesses on the Pier

Ariel's Grotto

Ariel's Grotto is located at the entrance to Paradise Pier inside Disney's California Adventure theme park and home to "Ariel's Disney Princess Celebration", one of the Disneyland Resort’s Character Dining options. They serve lunch and dinner. For a set price, you get your choice of soup or salad, entrée, and dessert. Kids get an entrée and dessert. Drinks are extra. Adult entrees include fish & chips, cheeseburger, pasta, B.L.T. sandwich, pot pie, meatloaf, and 2 salads. Kids’ entrees include all the favorites, like mac and cheese, corn dogs, and chicken nuggets. Honestly, the food is mediocre and I’ve had much better food at other Disneyland Resort restaurants but no one is there for the food. During the course of the meal, your table is visited by Ariel, Belle, Snow White, Cinderella, and Aurora individually. When they visit, you have a chance to take a photo with them and get their autograph. Each meal ends with a pile of cotton candy and you get to take home an Ariel’s Grotto button as a keepsake. Since the restaurant is located on Paradise Pier, you get a great waterfront view too. Character Dining is definitely a must for any Disneyland Resort trip and this is the only Princess dining experience. It’s an extremely magically experience for kids who love Disney Princesses! I’ve seen a 2-hour wait for Ariel’s Grotto and sometimes it can be booked up for the rest of the day. Make reservations in advance by calling Disney Dining at (714) 781-3463.

We had lunch here. It appears dinner would have been much more entertaining. The food was pretty good but the service was slow.

Favorite Dish: I had the N’Awlins Cheesesteak Po-Boy, a julienne of filet mignon, caramelized onions, red and green bell peppers on French bread, with provolone cheese, horseradish aioli and Creole vinegar dill chips for US$11.95. It was pretty good.
