Three Palms Avalon Arcade & Bowling

We love to find places like these for the boys, although they were not with us this trip. Yet I like to scout them out for VT, especially those young at heart or those who have little ones. I was thrilled to see a duckpin bowling alley.

Discription from the web site: Three Palms is proud to offer four lanes of mini-bowling, or duckpin bowling. Popular on the east coast, duckpin bowling is identical to tenpin, but scaled down in size. Our bowling lanes can accomodate up to 10 players each, feature a computerized scoreboard, and best of all-we don't require any bowling shoes! Just step on up and bowl! Great fun for everyone! Players who score over 200 can make it onto our Bowling Wall of Fame!

Also, there is a huge arcade with all kinds of interactive games to enjoy!

    Commemorating Old Ben

Old Ben was a legendary, but real character who was in Avalon from 1898 to 1920's. Ben was a large and unusually friendly seal. He would affable pose for snapshot on the pleasure pier and accept a raw fish snack in payment. Swimmers remember an occasional initimate nudge as he swam by. The sculpture to commemorate old Ben was created by Stanley Rosin. It was given to the City of Avalon by Hermine and Stanley Rosin in gratitude to his father Bernath Rosin an Avalon Pioneer of 1886. Placeing of the sculpture and this plaque was a becentennial project of the Avalon Beautiful Association in September 1975.

You can experience 600 or 800 foot flights and you can do this either by yourself, with a friend or with two other friends. I bet the views are fantastic.

This is quite the party place. With lots of skimpy swim suits, drinking, eating, sun bathing, load music and drunk people stangering around.....lol! I am sure the men folk will love this part of Avalon...lol! They asked for a $2 charge to use the sandy beach area, which I thought was uncalled for. Huge bar areas, restaurants, patios and covered cabana's for rent.

There many areas of beach front along the main road in Avalon. Nicely located near all the shops and restaurants. They had lifeguards on duty, but his is only during the summer months. Lots of families and children enjoying the soft sands and blue waters. Just keep in mind they are everywhere and some forget where they are at and end up in the streets. Something to keep in mind when your at the beach with you children.

We missed the tour, but maybe you can take advantage of seeing what is inside this beautiful historic building. Tickets are priced at $24 (excludes taxes and fees), please check the web site for any changes to this price. You'll get to see the “green” rooms used by Errol Flynn and Cary Grant, or walk across the stage where Benny Goodman played before thousands of adoring fans. Cecil B. DeMille viewed the “rushes” of the day’s movie shoot in the editing room. This building was truley a playground for the Hollywood's elite during its golden years.
