    Many Places to Refresh Here!!!

Favorite thing: Baker is a very small community most travelers will find on its way to and from Las Vegas. It is has become a little oasis in the vast desert that many find themselves having to stop for either, rest, gas, food, or just to relax from the extreme temperatures. Baker has many type restaurants and such others as Alien Fresh Jerky, and the "World Famous" Mad Greek Cafe. Just across from the Mad Greek Cafe is a store which has sold the most winning tickets in California Lotto history. Yet, Baker has fallen on harder times, with casinos just across the Nevada border at Primm and Jean taking much of its motel trade. Yet, people still need to stop to refresh or gas up and Baker is more than happy to accommodate.

Though many may find that there is nothing here of interest, they are wrong. There are plenty of places to relax, cool off, eat, and get gas. There are a lot more places now than before. Baker may not seem much, but people live and work here. It's their home, so lets respect that!!

    Mojave Desert

Favorite thing: Baker is the Gateway to the Death Valley and has a very good Mojave Desert Information center that is located at the bottom of the Worlds Largest thermometer.

Here you will find all the information on what you can find in the Mojave Desert. You can get maps and camp information as well as tour the display of plants and animals that live in the Mojave Desert.

    Too hot!

    World's Largest!

Favorite thing: Honestly, I can't say there is anything that is my favorite. Baker is more convenient after driving for hours in the hot sun and having a place to pull over and get something cold to drink.

Fondest memory: Looking at the 200 page menu of "the Mad Greek" and deciding - yeah I can't imagine any of this is fresh...skip it.

Favorite thing: While stuck in Baker, waiting for that damn timing belt to arrive (this took 10 hours) I had the chance to explore this meager stretch of road that calls itself a town.

Fondest memory: Well, after exploring I've concluded that there isn't much to do in Baker-at all. We visited the convenience store and bought ice cream sandwiches...they were good but...

Favorite thing: The temperature readings on this thermometer are easily read by passing cars on the highway. It's not a good thing to have your car overheat in the middle of no where. Luckily I haven't had any trouble, but see it all the time. Unfortunitely, a way to help avoid car overheating is to NOT turn on your air conditioner. Most newer cars don't have to worry.

Favorite thing: It was a hot 106 degrees farenheit when I passed through this town. But the thermometer can go considerably higher.
