Self-proclaimed as "California's best kept secret" the Kern River Valley is about as close to West Virginia as you're likely to find on the West Coast. • Good Bar and Restaurant

This is a nice bar, and restaurant, downstairs in the Padre Hotel. It's attractive and in the evening is lively. It has brunch and lunch as well. Everything we've had is at least pretty good, but a couple fancier items we've had at dinner were mediocre. Service seems a bit slow, but not bad.
