    Get into the Greystone

by marinarena Written Feb 27, 2013

Grystone Mansion is one of the most goregous, exclusive destinations in all of So Cal. With an advance tour reservation, an average person can enter Greyhouse (first floor only), which is an official park in Beverly Hills. Otherwise you have to be in the TV/movie industry, celeb or city insider to get into these lovely parts. Films shooting occur here frequently at the designated historical landmark which boasts of lush English gardens, impeccable landscape. Notably, scenes from popular films such as The Bodyguard, Spider Man 1-3, Rush Hour, The Big Lebowski and There Will Be Blood. As for TV, Murder, She Wrote and The Mentalist used the home for filiming. The gothic neoclassical style mansion was the site of the murder of wealthy heir Edward "Ned" Doheny, who grew up in the massive home, once formerly most expensive house in California (It cost over 3 million to build- mere pennies in these days for a BH home).

Monthly mansion tours conducted by park rangers start at $15. Besides tours, there are some limited activities scheduled here, including concerts, a murder mystery theater production, the Greyhouse Concours D'elegance vintage automobile show + extravanganza and a monthly "Tea and Talk".

Live the Beverly Hills life at Greystone Mansion

by icunme Updated Apr 21, 2006

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

You can live for a full day as the Doheny family lived in the early '30's - lounging in the Park and enjoying high tea on the Mansion terrace.
The 18.5 acre romantic park setting serves as a location for a myriad of cultural activities, a quiet respite for daily visitors as well as a memorable backdrop for weddings and other parties. Two areas of the former Doheny Mansion, built in 1928, are open to the public: the formal gardens' spacious, lush, green vistas and a large fountain; and the pool and inner courtyard.
The mansion is accessible to the public for musical and theatrical performances. Since 1965, Greystone Park has been featured in many films and the mansion and grounds are also frequently used for still photography in catalogs, advertising campaigns and other promotional projects.
