The Beverly Hills version of a trolley - especially for the pleasure of tourists.
The exciting, 40-minute Trolley Tour takes riders by Beverly Hills' most prominent attractions including Rodeo Drive.

May and June, 2006 - Saturday Only. Trolley operates on the hour from 11am until 4pm.

July 1, 2006 through September 3, 2006 - Tuesdays through Saturdays. Trolley operates on the hour from 11am to 5pm.

September, October and November 2006 - Saturday Only. Trolley operates on the hour from 11am until 4pm.

November 24 through December 31, 2006 - Tuesdays through Saturdays. Trolley operates on the hour from 11am to 4pm,

Trolley Tours leave from the corner of Rodeo Drive and Dayton Way in the heart of Beverly Hills' shopping and restaurant district.

The fare is $5.00 per adult rider and $1.00 per child under 12 on either Tour. Tickets may be purchased from the Trolley docent on a first come, first serve basis. The Trolley does not operate in the rain. Private group tours and film company rentals are also available.

Any city that has a little trolley is just so cute to me. Although it is super typical "touristy", one should take a trolley ride at least once. If not in San Francisco, why not in this beautiful wonderland.

Duration of tour lasts approx. 45 min. On board, a B.H. city ambassador gives narration of Bev history, including key landmarks, and also there is mention of several former celebrity homes. When I did my first trolley tour, there was a very chic, sophisticated woman who was the narrative guide (named Suchee, I believe). Kudos to her and her sultry, soothing voice which even broke out a rendition of "Singing in the Rain" while pointing out the former BH home of Gene Kelly during the ride! Now, that was well worth the $5 tour alone- and then some!

Meet the flock on the weekends at Rodeo and Dayton Way (summertime should have additional run times Tues-Fri as well) on the hour, from 11 AM -4 PM. Tickets are $5 for adults; $1 for kids 12 and under.

    Get Right to Rodeo

One of the most efficient and leisurely ways to get to Beverly Hills is by bus, Metro Rapid 720. It drops off right at the famous Euro-style drive, not far away from the famous steps and fabulously fashionable shops. The 720 runs along Wilshire Blvd. Not only is this bus good for seeing a major draw as Beverly Hills but also for Santa Monica beach and the the new, emerging downtown LA as well, the latter two serve as beginning/ending points for the route). What's great about the bus is that it goes faster than others, skipping the many minor intersections in between the majors. Also, there tends to be more room for comfort since the buses are extended to carry more passengers. In addition, a Rapid stop has estimated times of arrival either on a bus post or on a running screen. Check website for schedule, updates and other info about the route (under "Timetables")

Catch other routes to BH via downtown L.A

MTA Route 14 bus stop sign, Beverly Hills, CA

Here's a tip if you are staying in downtown Los Angeles and want to head to the 90210 town. Though the forementioned route 720 may be most convenient, it can often be crowded, despite the expanded capacity seating. Other routes straight to BH include:

Route 4- can also get crowded but is a very frequent option
Route 14, runs from Beverly Blvd-Robertson Blvd in BH (route sign pictured)- less busy, generally runs smooth from my experience
    Route 16- like Route 4
Route 20- the regular, slower version of 720, more residential stops in BH
Route 316- the express version on 316
Route 704- good option, express bus so fewer stops and faster run time
