Favorite thing:
We knew the campsite was located next to the ocean. We walked into the light. Luckily for us, this did not mean death. Actually, it is the safest way to cross Hwy 1. Otherwise you play Frogger in between two sharp bends.
Fondest memory:
The Campsites were not marked. Luckily Kevin and I bumped into Tesh, he knew the way. He just spent a couple hours hiking the wrong way up into the mountains, looking for the site, with backpacks on. Hehe That must have sucked.
Favorite thing: …as long as you can get wet. What this little waterfall and stream lacked in girth, it made up for in color and personality. There was a trail that scales these rocks. All things considered, we choose to stick with the path slightly more traveled. It was a holiday weekend, and we didn’t bump into to many people. And just a mile or two off the road… you would never guess…
Favorite thing:
Which way did he go?
Some go thisaway
and some go thataway…
Fondest memory:
The trail spit a little before the waterfall. It makes a 2.5 mile loop from there. Some were content to make this the destination. Others were not. I am thankful for them others. We motivated and moved on.
Favorite thing: it was a relatively ugly place. Much drier. Brown. The trail map just showed a big circle and we were at the pinnacle. But wait… there’s more, a secret trail to those that made it. We were tired. Hot. Sweaty. We’ve seen so much… who knows how far it is? What do we get to see? Do we still have water? We sit and ponder. Time to have a snack.
Favorite thing: We sat in the dirt by this sign for a good 15 minutes. Knowing this was not going to be the lunch spot. Until Kristen noticed what a prophet had scribbled, “10 minutes Worth it!” Without so much as a hesitation, we all stood, without saying a word, turned around and walked.
Favorite thing: The trees would open up once in a while. Show us how far we’ve scaled. It’s been a few hours, we’ve been taking our time, stopping often to take it all in. We were all on the same page. No hurry. It was nice.
Favorite thing: We’re no frontiersmen, but we did walk down the little path from our campsite to find natural stadium seating for the sunset. It was time to find our spots, and let the show begin.
Favorite thing: And he’s taking the picture. What a way to start the 4th of July. Time to drink beer and say cheese.
Favorite thing: …the air. Getting close to what seemed to be the top. Fatigue was starting to set in. time for a group shot. We needed a good spot to have lunch. This was pretty, but it wasn’t it. Must trek on…
Favorite thing: took him a moment to arrange his fingers in correct order. We would like to thank that Prophet. So if you ever read this, Thanks.
