Pretty much, you will need your own transport to get here and around. We are about four hours from the closest commercial airports (Reno, Las Vegas, and Burbank).
If you are v. patient, you can try to coordinate Greyhound with the local CREST bus system.
If you manage to get here, but need a car, there are two car rental places that can help (Enterprise and U-Save).
Eastern Sierra Transit provides public bus transportation in and around the Eastern Sierra. The 395 Route goes between Reno, Nv and Lancaster, Ca with stops in Bishop, Mammoth & Lone Pine. There are routes between Bishop & Mammoth and Lone Pine & Bishop. There is local bus service in Bishop, Mammoth and Lone Pine. Go to www.estransit.com to see all the transportation that is offered. You will be impressed!
This place has cheap gas, clean bathrooms and a large variety of snacks, drinks and locally brewed beers. It's a great place to fill up on your way to Mammoth Lakes. It's located mid way through Bishop on the right going north and left going south.
