After World War II, a nationwide movement was started to pay tribute to the nation's armed forces, by designating various State and national routes as "Blue Star Memorial Highways." In 1945, the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc. approved the Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker program. California Garden Clubs, Inc. accepted the program in 1947.
This one is on Hwy 58 at the newly renovated rest stop just west of Boron.

A lot of people do not realized how much these little desert communities are still desired in the movie community. I grew up watching movie sets being built, shot, and sometimes dismantle and away they go to the next movie shot. I try to included these little secrets as much as I can. This is just one more neat fact that Boron can boast about too!

Located among many historical buildings next to the Boron Twenty Mule Team Musuem, Kramer Junction depot was believed to be built around 1905 and was moved to Boron in 1941 by the AT&SF . Kramer junction was a scificant hub for many of railroads that linked here around the 1900's. Now Kramer Junction serves as the cross roads for two major highways 395 & 58. 395 will take you to San Bertnardino south, Ridgecrest, Eastern Sierra to the north, Barstow east, Palmdale and Lancaster west. There is also a huge facility of solar generating site that has these huge panels covering a vast part of the community.
