Downtown Brea: Come on down for exciting special events

by marinarena Updated Aug 16, 2012

I relish having Brea closeby for some nightime fun downtown- at the movies (Edwards Theaters), at any restaurant (there are a dozen from which to choose), at Tower records for cd flipping and book browsing, at the Improv for laughs and at any spot for people watching and enjoying the usually cool open air.

Brea has several special events happening throughout the year. There is a good (weekly) farmer's market here on Tuesdays, a car show (in the summer), the Jazz Festival on Fridays and Saturdays in September and Christmastime celebration. The holiday scene is particurly special for me to experience here. More events will certainly be added here. Check webiste for details!

Dress Code: California casual- but bring a jacket !!

    Curtis Theater: Quality of Curtis

by marinarena Updated Apr 4, 2011
Curtis Theater, Brea's own town venue

I make it a habit to tout wonderful theater houses of southern California, and can undoubtedly dote on nearby Curtis Theater at the civic center by the popular mall. I have see a few productions here, including my nieces' recitals. The theater is definitely small town but has big time quality and prestige. Perfomances are well directed, performed and all often sold out. While the exterior of the theater is quite dull with the civic center-friendly gray hue scheme and the view if sitting toward the back inside is not great, all that really matters is the show!

Parking is stress free- being free of charge and in a garage.

The Brea Mall is just steps away (from Nordstrom). After you drop from the shop, make a cultural stop-here!

An Embassy Suites is right next to the theater, perfecting for making a night of the town!

Dress Code: would be nice to dress up a little for evening performnaces but this is absolutely not necessary.

Brea's Cheesecake Factory: Where Brea Loves to Eat and be Seen

by marinarena Updated Apr 17, 2005
    restaurant/nightspot in Brea, CA

For such a relative little town (for some, a place of tens of thousands of people is not little), Brea has several restaurants. Just in the Birch Street Promenade and immediate area , there about at least few dozen options. Many of the eateries citywide have been succesful for many years but the new Cheesecake Factory by Brea Mall is sweeping competition away, boasting full capacity crowds every night and waiting lines. Of course everywhere it is located, The Cheesecake Factory is a sure hit. One certainly delights in its large variety an portions of food. Beware of the meal size here all of you outside of America! A restaurant review of CF is to come !

Dress Code: Casual California style wear- jeans, shirt, dress, skirt, whatever goes! One should have a jacket for the evening.
