Just a few blocks from Knotts Berry Farm is the renovated built Buena Park Downtown (BPD) featuring the magnificent Krikorian Movie Theater, stronghold retail giant Wal Mart, bargain-savvy Ross, Bed Bath and Beyond, numerous eateries and smaller stand-alone stores. It is ordinary but I recommend going there if you dislike huge mall crowds and want good bargains. I look out for all of the thrifty!!!
Notes:
Here's a secret (Shhh! Don't tell too much). If you come here to Buena Park for Knotts, head to the mall, enter, get a coffee or something, and then (if you don't mind walking about a good block/10 min), head to Knott's entrance. This way, you don't have to pay for Knott's parking. No one should notice!
The Ross location here is quite good, not so messy to get frustrated to look for deals.
Even on busy weekends, parking is not a headache here. It's free and very ample.
Check website to see current business at the mall. Unfortunately, there have been many closures over the years due to the bad economy/marketing. It's a good looking mall, has issues attracting huge biz though.

Walk the plank if you dare!
Ok, so many say that this dinner show is horrible and to go to Medieval Times. Take it from me who has frequented Medieval Times shows in Florida, Texas and California, the Pirate Dinner Adventure is a show to rival Medieval Times.
When you first arrive, you are ushered through a buffet of fruit, seafood and other snacks. It is not easy, but neither is Medieval Times pre-show. What sets this show apart is that the pirates interact with you. You really get to know your pirate.
The show is cheesy, but more entertaining than Medieval Times.
The food is better! Not only are you not limited to how much you drink but the dinner is fulfilling and tasty. The dessert is skimpy, but yummy, that is my only complaint is the size portion of the dessert.
The place is handicapped accessible and they go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable.
Yes, at the end you are asked to tip big, but at every Medieval Times show I attended, the wench serving us demanded the same.
If I had a choice between Medieval Times or Pirate Dinner Adventure? No doubt, Pirate's would win.

If you've seen Cable Guy starring Jim Carrey and Matthew Broderick, then you're familiar with this place... if not... read on! This is a restaurant/show type place. Basically you get to eat medieval themed food while watching knights jousting and fighting each other. It may sound a bit hokey, but its actually a lot of fun. Upon entering this place, you get a picture taken by the staff of you and your party which will later be sold to you if you choose to purchase it. You will then be guided to a certain area in the arena and you will be a assigned a color and you will rooting for the knight that is associated with your color. Its kind of fun having a knight to cheer for. The place attempts to immerse you in the medieval world as everyone talks in medieval speak and when you are given your food... there's no cutlery... you gotta drink your soup straight from the bowl and eat with your hands. The food is basic but really good! And there's quite a lot of it too!
The show itself can be entertaining except if you get actors who don't put much effort into the fighting scenes. The action scenes will be obvious that its just a bunch of actors but you sort of have to go in here understanding that you are watching just a show and not watching martial art or sword experts. If you watch this with a cynical attitude, I can almost guarantee that you won't enjoy the experience... so just let go and live in the moment.
This is a really great place to bring kids. They have no problem letting their imagination run amok and my friend's kids loved it! After the show you can meet the knights and take your pics with them.
The tickets here are a bit too pricey in my opinion (my friend's company gave him 8 tickets and it was the only reason i went), but its still pretty fun, especially if you have kids.

This is the prettiest picture of the entire Buena Park perhaps! Oddly enough, it is the grounds of Medieval Times, which has been the host of the extravaganza of sword swinging entertainment. It is located off Beach Blvd, walking distance from Knott's Berry Farm and just a few minutes off the 5 fwy in BP. Basically, I recommend doing this place once. Parents: bring your kids a few times here. This one's especially fo rthe kiddos.
