This airport started as United Airport in 1930 and was Los Angeles primary airport. It was here that aviation heros frequented such as Wiley Post, Amelia Earhart, and Charles Lindbergh. During WWII, Lockheed bought the airport and expanded it. They changed the name to Lockheed Air Terminal. After the war, much of the business moved back to LA Municipal Airport, but many of the smaller airlines continued to land here. Around the 1960's the name changed again to Hollywood-Burbank Airport and still was popular because catching a flight here was so easy and hassle free. By 1978 Lockheed sold it and was called Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport. By 2003, it was renamed again in honor of legendary entertainer Bob Hope.
Coming to this airport is so easy to get too, park, and exit. About the only thing I can share, is the runway is somewhat shorter than most of the larger airports, so planes have to land hard and fast, so be prepared.

LAX is the most popular airport in Southern Calfornia. But fortunately for us, there are several other airports that can accomodate our needs when with many destinations domestic or international depending on the airport. The Bob Hope Airport in Burbank is not an international airport and services many destinations throughout the United States. It's tiny compared to many airports. The baggage claim is actually outside.
Airlines serviced here are Alaska, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, United and US Airways.

Being from burbank or LA in general, having a car is a must and the only real way to travel if you want to see everything that burbank or los angeles has to offer. The pubilc transportation is a waste of time but if you must then you can get to most places using the public bus system. i did it back in high, its just that it took 3x as long.

A godsend to many locals, The Bob Hope Airport in Burbank may also be an option for travelers who wish to visit the greater Los Angeles area, especially Bur, Glendale and Pasadena, without dealing with the stress of LAX airport.
BUR prides itself for convenience: easy pick-up and drop-off points by the terminal and parking lots that are located close by, as well as a prompt electronic detection for the baggage system security measures , allowing quick service for flyers.
Don't feel that by landing at Bob Hope, you'll be too far away from the L.A. action. From the airport's train station, there are convenient 30 min Metrolink and Amtrak train trips which go to Union Station, a central transportation point for Los Angeles. From there, you'll be able to experience downtown LA fun and be close to reaching other destinations.

Travel between Burbank Airport and Los Angeles Int'l Airport is convenient, albeit, not direct without a taxi or Super Shuttle.
With a combined rail-freeway bus option, the ride in between is nevertheless simplified and indeed cheaper than a taxi. If landing at LAX, catch the FLYWAWAY bus to Union Station, downtown L.A. FLYAWAY is caught from the lower level of LAX. There are distinct signs posted for the FLYAWAY. The length of drive time is about 45 min, depending on the infamous L.A. traffic of course.
After arriving at Union Station, outside at the Patsaouras Plaza, head inside and go through the station hallway to meet the Metrolink or Amtrak train to go to Burbank Airport Station. Signs for the right Metrolink trains to take should read something like, "Bob Hope Burbank Airport" or "Ventura County Line". Both will stop at the airport. The Metrolink trip takes about 30 min. If you opt for Amtrak, head to the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner heading NORTH to Burbank- Bob Hope.
The combined bus-rail trip will cost about $15-$16 one way, $7 for the FLYAWAY and $6.50 for the Metrolink ($8.50 for regular Amtrak coach ticket). Be aware that the Flyway only takes credit/debit cards to board or accepts online tix in advance (unless you have an EZ transit pass).

Overall, the ride from airport to airport should take less than 1 1/2 hours, which could sometimes be more than it would take by car in L.A. freeway traffic during a horrendous commute.

Burbank Bus may come in handy while in town. It is the city's own line of buses that I've found are clean, efficient and suited well for morning and afternoon, during heavy commutes time. BBs run every 18 minutes. Cost to board is $1 one-way or free with MTA pass (paper transfer or show tap card) or Metrolink ticket.
Do beware that BBs do not run in the middle of the day. If you want to travel between 10 AM-3PM, find alternate Metro buses that are able to be caught on the major streets of the city.
There are four main routes:
Noho to Empire- good for airport travel, convention center and Burbank Empire Center
Empire to Downtown- good for airport, convention center, Burbank Empire Center, Burbank Town Center and other downtown shopping
Metrolink to Media District - good for going to the NBC studio/Tonight Show, exit Alameda and Olive from Metrolink train
Noho to Media District- good for going to the NBC studio/Tonight Show, exit Alameda and Olive
off Metro Red Line/Orange Line
