The Cold Stream Tavern is located between Santa Barbra and Lake Cachuma along the 154 highway on the Old Stagecoach road. The tavern was once an old rest stop and a place to change the horses for the Wells Fargo stagecoach.
Now you will find 11 buildings which make up this rest stop and a waterfall. One of the buildings is used as a bar where you can purchase tickets for the barbeque beef sandwiches that are barbequed right outside. There is also a sit down restaurant in one of the other buildings that has very good food at a good price.
Stop here if you just want to take a break and enjoy the sights.
Lake Cachuma is kept by the Bradbury Damn which is an earthen damn located at the northern end of the lake.
You can get a good view of the damn and the lake by stopping at the Bradbury Damn turn out and look out. Here you will find picnic tables, a bathroom and walking trails for those that want to walk down to the lake.
The damn is currently going under some renovations so you will see some very large trucks working on the damn on the west side.
Fondest memory: I remember going to this lake when I was very young with my grandfather to go fishing. Back then you were not allowed to have powered boats on the lake. I do not know if that is true now or not but we did see one powered boat on the lake the day we visited.
