Campbell Things to Do

  • An historic home/museum & grounds

In the suburban sprawl that dominates Silicon Valley, you have too look around a little to find historic homes. This one, the Ainsley House, was moved to its current location in downtown Campbell to make room for a strip mall (no surprise) on the other side of highway 880, near the Pruneyard. It makes more sense to be here anyway. The Ainsley House...

  • Farmers' Market

The Campbell Farmers' market takes place every Sunday right in the heart of downtown. This is a great event to visit for either buying good, fresh regional produce, handicrafts or some prepared foods. The market covers about three or four blocks in downtown, when the street is closed to auto traffic. What I like about this market, besides the good...

  • Good local coffee shop

I love to see a local coffee shop compete directly with a massive chain place like Starbucks and do well. Orchard Valley Coffee is the center of the Campbell scene, and I see no reason to get your java at the competition one block away. The coffee is good here, as well as the service and atmosphere. It isn't as trendy or as planned out as a chain...

Campbell Restaurants

  • Quality Italian Restaurant

A Bellagio is a good restaurant in the Silicon Valley area, run by an Italian and named after the town of Bellagio on Lake Como. The town of Campbell is a world away from northern Italy, but at least here you can dine and drink and feel a little closer.Quality food and good service from a locally run place that isn't a chain. Fresh ingredients and...

  • An excellent choice

This is a very good quality restaurant that draws in diners from all over the south bay area. Twist is run by a chef from France, and he's done a good job of bringing together his training and experience to meet the tastes of California. I think he's done a good job of creating a creative and fresh menu without getting pretentious or over-the-top....

  • Nothing fancy here

Just your standard Japanese Steakhouse (with mostly Latin chefs now) here. The food is fine and it is always cool to do the Japanese Steakhouse thing if you never have done it before, but I wouldn't exactly run back here to eat.

  • Wacky Rolls

At first I wasn't too excited about checking this place out because I seemed to remember someone having some sushi to go from there at their home and it was so-so. It ended up not being too bad. They have a huge variety of rolls, which I don't normally order because I like to just stick with the standard sushi items. But anyone who uses jellyfish...

  • Mediocre Ethiopian

This is my 8th Ethiopian restaurant in the United States. Mediocre food with too much sauce and not enough punch. Great decor though with a lot of good art from Ethiopia. Good service too as well...a really nice waiter.

Campbell Nightlife

  • Something like an Irish pub

Katie Bloom's is a very popular, somewhat low-key place with an Irish pub theme. The green walls, good selection of beers and ales on tap, and photos of Irish writers and poets try to make it different from other pubs/bars. There is a small patio on the street side, which is a great place to hang out for happy hour. There is a good draw of...

  • Feel the beat...

I like a chill atmosphere with good music. The Cardiff had a dj right there when I walked in and there were a lot of people there just doin' their thing. It's a good spot if you dig hip hop and serious beats.

  • Post Turkey Day favorite

Ah, Khartoum- where the drinks are too pricey, the waitstaff unreliable, and the crowd mixed like you've never seen.I love it. A mish-mash of furniture and decor that somehow makes you feel at home. The big gang of us would meet there often, but our favorite would be to gather on Thanksgiving night. The bar would be pretty slow, but then we'd show...

Campbell Shopping

  • Great bakery and pastry shop

This is a great addition to the Campbell/San Jose area for fine baked goods. They make fine pastries, cakes and deserts with fresh ingredients. It's one of the best in the South Bay area. This is worthy of a destination.

  • Hookahs and spraypaint and t-shirts, oh...

First off, for all those who don't know: 420 is a reference to that funny green stuff. You know...the stuff people smoke to get "hoooooieeeeeeee". Know what I'm sayin'?? Well I wanted to check this place out, so I did. They've got so much cool stuff here to buy. They have a lot of hookahs and a very wide variety of tobacco for them as well. I had...

  • The nicest African produced furniture...

This store contains a lot of home furnishings produced in Namibia and South Africa. There is a lot of high end stuff and several unusual things as well; like couches made of leather and zebra skin. It's one of those unique stores that can be fun to look in even if you aren't buying.
