Cardiff-by-the-Sea Things to Do

  • Oceanside

We spent a day in Oceanside, a few miles north of Cardiff by the Sea. This is a much bigger resort with more people around. On the Saturday when we were there the car parking was tough and expensive but found a place on Windward Way which was free and had free spaces, both of which were very rare on that day. You can spend some good times on the...

The beach and sea here is just fabulous. We arrived after a four hour drive from Santa Babara and checked out the beach. Note the water was warmer and the waves bigger than further north. Altogether a great mix. The car park is right on the beach and therefore often busy but we always found a place. Showers and changing rooms available, great fun

  • 101

popped into the 101 diner for a great breakfast one day out at Oceanside. Great atmosphere here in a traditional diner sort of feel, a little edgy for some tastes I think but great food. A few pics on the walls of by gone days when this place was still taking on all comers, must've been great then but you know without the modern lifestyle I would...

We passed this place several times and intrigued we ended up going in on one evening. Great diner experience. It's very much serve yourself - to hot drinks, cold drinks, soup, cutlery and crockery. There are only about 7 or 8 choices but all look good. I enjoyed the steak with Mrs Sut taking the ground beef. I think that the steak was better. Cheap...

  • Great Jamaican Cuisine

Great food here at the Jamroc 101. Saw this place on the highway and decided that we had to stop there. Great experience and good Jamaican style cuisine. When writing this review I looked it up in the internet and sad to say that it closed in December 2013 :( so this review is more of an homage to the one great night we spent there. Jerk

  • Breakfast stop

There was only one place to be to get your morning goods and that was VG's bakery. On San Elijo Avenue within walking distance of teh camp ground there were queues a plenty on each morning, lots of staff though which meant that you ware never waiting so long. Great pastries, donuts have too much frosting for my liking but daughter loved them. the...

Great atmosphere here and very good food. We noted the price of eating out in Cardiff by teh sea was expensive but enjoyed this place all the same. A cosy environment with very good service, recommended.

  • Front row view of the sea & sunsets

We wanted to go back to this restaurant to celebrate our 9th anniversary and what an event it turned out to be. Sitting by the window, we had beautiful views of the waves crashing on the shore as well as the awesome California sunset (looking through the ceiling to floor windows). Service is top notch and the food is so good, definitely a place to...

  • Refresing view and delicious food.

We met here for our quarterly "Men's Only" day out...fun times, laughter and good eats. For lunch I had the Panino Granchio (pan fried crab burger served with onion, tomato, lettuce and tartar sauce) with Fresca Verde (mixed greens, tomatoes, radishes and cucumber tossed homemade Italian dressing).
