Favorite thing: Pretty buildings as seat of town history!
The Ocean house represents much of Carlsbad's history. Originally named Twins Inn and secondly, Neimans, the colorful and charming building is seated in the town roots. Town founder, John A. Frazier dug a water well around here and noticed that the water levels were coparable to one found in Karlsbad, Bohemia (Germany). So, hence the town's name!
For a true Carlsbad experience, come to Ocean House for accomodations, dining, attending special events/parties or just stand by the German man and water dome, then have your picture taken.
As are all Carlsbad Village landmarks, Ocean House is a short walking distance to the train.

Favorite thing: Visit during the spring time when you can see the hillsides near Legoland abloom at the'Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch'.You can walk along dirt paths through thousands of ranunculuses against a backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. A garden shop features bulbs and blooms grown at the nursery. There are too many tourists but still it is an awesome site. Located at Paseo del Norte, just east of I-5 telephone 760-431-0352 March 1 - April 30 daily 10-6 admission is $4
