Favorite thing: Walking around Carmel is such a delight, the buildings are so pretty and as we were there in August, everywhere was a riot of colour with the floral displays.
In fact you can actually go on a walking tour of Carmel, seeking out all those little alleys and courtyards. Information about the walking tours is obtainable at the Visitors Centre, which is at San Carlos/5th and 6th.

Pebbles Beach (homes with privat golf-course)
Favorite thing: Pebbles Beach is the exclusive domain of the richer then rich. Capital houses with golfcourses as backyard stand here next to eachother and still one has to pay an extra tol to drive over the17 miles drive through Pebbles Beach.
Fondest memory: The lonely tree maybe reflects the fact the being rich leads often to being lonely. (-:
Favorite thing: The beauty of the ocean will amaze you like none other. Forget about your troubles and let them be taken out to sea.
Fondest memory: Watching Ross enjoying his first beach trip and he was Blessed that it was Carmel by the Sea.

Favorite thing: go SIGHTSEEING!
Carmel-by-the-Sea is a 5-star community nestled between Big Sur and Pebble Beach Golf Course. It is also the gateway to the famous 17-Mile Drive.
And some of the FUN things you may like to do whilst you're here include:
Strolling along the beach and listening to the giant waves pound against the rocks....
Playing golf on perfectly manicured greens.
Go Horseback Riding. There's a particular excursion that I'd like to recommend and that is the 'Beach Trail Rides' (cost: US$45 per individual) where experienced guides will take riders to some of the most breathtaking spots on earth! You'd have a chance to see the rugged Pacific coastline and unparalleled views of the world-famous fairways of Cypress Point Golf Club and Spyglass Hill Golf Course. Ah, so nice!
Just do nothing but Eat, Eat and EAT at the many lovely local cafes, eateries and restaurants in this quaint little town. :-)
You can also choose to attend one of the many special art gallery walks around town. Whatever it is, just chill out and enjoy your short stay in this seaside resort town.
Fondest memory: See what we chanced upon when we were out strolling that day in Carmel-by-the-Sea? Yes, this cool statue..... Cute!

Favorite thing: check out some of the lovely houses here. Oops... sorry. MANSIONS, I mean. :-) The homes situated along the rugged coastline cost a bomb (so I heard) and since I can only afford to dream of staying here one day... I'll like to share with you a pic of my dream house! :-)) I've always been brought up to THINK BIG. So, here it is!
Fondest memory: Part of the quirkiness of Carmel-by-the-Sea is that there are no street addresses here! And properties are identified by their cross streets and locations such as three houses down on Dolores. Also, cottages are given names such as Doll House. Very amusing!
pay a visit to the Carmel...
Favorite thing: pay a visit to the Carmel Mission Basilica.... and see the burial place of Father Junipero Serra, the father of California missions. Did you know that the official name of the mission is Basilica of Mission San Carlos Borromeo del Rio Carmel? It's being honored because of the historic importance/ significant charitable work done by the great Father Serra.
To get there, just drive straight to Rio Road, just off Highway 1.
go on the 17-Mile Drive.... ...
Favorite thing: go on the 17-Mile Drive.... It actually leads you on a scenic tour of some of the most beautiful coastlines in the world.
And the admission fee per entry? US$7. Don't let the price of admission deter you from visiting this place. It's really, really worth it!
On another note, the feeding of wildlife here (any kind of wildlife!) is RESTRICTED because it may jeopardize the safety of these wild animals and damage the landscape. So, DO NOT FEED any animals that you spot along the way!!!
Just blocks from one of the...
Favorite thing: Just blocks from one of the world's most beautiful beaches, in the heart of Carmel-By-The-Sea, you will find CARMEL PLAZA. A unique collection of over fifty shops and restaurants in an elegant courtyard and luscious garden setting.
The Point Lobos State Park
Favorite thing: Visit the Point Lobos State Park. It's not too far from Carmel and you can have great views of the pacific ocean there. Just look here...

Favorite thing: No plan to stop here but it looked so appealing so we decided to stay here. A place to stay overnight had to be found quickly as the night was already falling.
