Besides the famous beaches and parks in Carmel--including Carmel Beach, Carmel River State Beach, Monastery Beach, and Point Lobos State Reserve--Carmel boasts a number of other small city parks that are beautiful and fun to explore. Here are a few that I have discovered:

Mission Trails Park has entrances located on Mountain View Avenue & Forest and on Rio Road across from the Carmel Mission. It has 35 acres of natural beauty and trails connecting the mission to central Carmel.

Devendorf Park is located at the upper end of Ocean Avenue and features a grassy lawn surrounded by monuments to local residents who died in the Vietnam War, World War II, and the Korean War. It also has a nice stone walkways and a few small pools with koi fish. It has a public restroom.

Piccadilly Park is a nice little spot with a few benches, public restrooms, and a variety of local vegetation in a beautiful setting. Located on Dolores between Ocean and 7th.

First Murphy Park is a native plant garden at Lincoln & 6th that surrounds First Murphy House--the first house built by local architect Michael Murphy.

Vista Lobos Park is a few blocks from Ocean near Torres and Third. It has plenty of free all day parking, a few picnic tables and grills, and a nice view of Point Lobos in the distance.

Forest Hill Park and Playground is located at the corner of Camino del Monte & Junipero, and it is primarily a kids' playground.
