Hanging out at the bar at Tres Hombres by Etoile2B Tres Hombres is a very popular Downtown Chico institution specializing in Mexican food. When the university is in session this restaurant and bar is always hopping, so good luck getting a table. The do a good job with ordinary “Mexican” fare like tacos and enchiladas. Their margaritas keep locals returning for more. This place is always jumping, and while the food isn’t necessarily “authentic” the atmosphere keeps this spot hopping well into the night. Tres Hombres is popular with locals and students alike.
The food is tasty and plentiful. It’s your average “Mexican” joint with affordable prices and good margaritas. Tres Hombres is also a place to “see and be seen” in Chico. Leave a Comment

Under new ownership, the Black Crow is still a popular addition to the burgeoning restaurant scene in Chico. The Black Crow opened several years ago in Downtown Chico and quickly became a town favorite. This classy tavern features an open kitchen so patrons can take a peek into the inner-workings of the staff. The distinctly American menu provides a little something for everyone. Appropriate for families and date-night alike, the Black Crow aims to please. This grill’s laid back atmosphere will put you right at home. And for those wanting to socialize look no further than the oak paneled bar. The Black Crow is a welcome addition to the growing restaurant community.
If you're in a casual mood try a terrific sandwich. But you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Leave a Comment

Another (relatively) recent addition to Downtown Chico, Plutos takes salads to a whole new level. This popular lunch spot is quick, tasty and affordable. Leave a Comment

Redwood Forest Restaurant by Etoile2B Redwood Forest is a Chico institution since 1976. Located in historic downtown Chico, they used to serve only lunch but now serve dinner on Wednesday through Saturday nights. They specialize in great sandwiches, salads and clam chowder. I haven't tried dinner here, but I've always been pleased but the lunch service they do. Leave a Comment

The Black Crow--(no, they don't make you eat it) Downtown Chico...in the heart of the city but in a pretty location. It has a warm, cozy atmosphere and serves what I consider typical California cuisine, with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and wonderful seasonings. The price is moderate, it has a full bar.
I had grilled swordfish while I was there which was melt-in-you-mouth good! The salad was delicious, too, with a house dressing that made you want to drink it by the bottle......almost. Theme: Other

Jack’s is your typical diner. Open 24 hours and offering cheap eats here you’ll find all different kinds of people from all over the city. The food is hearty and greasy… just what you expect from a diner. No surprises here. And if you’re heading out to the Sacramento airport the shuttle leaves from Jack’s parking lot .
It's a greasy spoon... Typical diner food, always available and always hot. Leave a Comment Theme: DinerPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: 540 Main St, Chico, CA 95928Phone: 530-343-8383

by Etoile2B The 5th Street Steakhouse is a great mid-range restaurant near downtown Chico. This local hot spot has been popular since it first opened its doors. The menu features, you guessed it, steak, along with fish and chicken dishes – there’s something for everyone here. They also feature a terrific wine list, one of the few great ones in town. Their casual, yet elegant dining room reigns in the neighborhood and keeps people returning time and again. Even if you’re not in the mood to dine, at least stop in and have a drink at the bar, with its warm wood and friendly staff you’re guaranteed a good time.
People, of course, come for the steaks – but I’ve tried just about everything else on the menu and haven’t once been disappointed. If you're looking for fine dining in Chico, look no further than Christian Michaels. The food is wonderful, and although pricey compared to other restaurants in the area, well-worth it. It's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or even a romantic dinner for two. The service is friendly and knowledgeable, the ambience is warm and inviting and the food is fantastic. I would highly recommend Christian Michaels for an excellent fine dining experience.
The warm spinach salad is always a favorite! Leave a Comment

The Raw Bar by Etoile2B A great addition to downtown Chico, the Raw Bar brings a hint of the Far East to this little college town. Specializing in sushi and Japanese cuisine this popular restaurant also features an eclectic wine and sake list to complement your meal. Patrons can choose between table service, the sushi bar or take out. The fish is fresh, and although the sushi chefs aren’t “authentic” they’ve been trained by the best. Chico has been in desperate need of a good sushi place and the Raw Bar definitely fits the bill. The Raw Bar is popular so reservations are recommended.
The sushi here is the best you'll find in Chico. But if sushi's not your thing they also have great Japanese fare to choose from! Leave a Comment Theme: Japanese/SushiPrice: US$21-30 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 346 Broadway, Chico, CA 95928Phone: 530-897-0626
