Hmmm....there's this little mom and pop drive-in called Big Al's. Located on the Esplanade at 9th Avenue. They make the BEST shakes (of every flavor imaginable) that you have ever tasted! And they have the BIGGEST icecream cones! My kids love them! Big Al's has been here forever! They're not skimpy on their servings and they believe in quality!
Yummy, delicious, mouthwatering, melt all over the place, to die for icecream cones! Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Esplanade and 9th Avenue

Aca Taco is one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in Chico amongst the students. It is pretty cheap and the food is very, very good. There are two locations, one at the corner of 5th and Ivy, and one located in the Safeway shopping center on the corner of Hwy 32 (aka Nord) and West Sacramento Ave. I usually went to the one on West Sacramento, and I think it is a little better than the one on Ivy street. You can't go wrong with anything you order here, and if you appreciate Mexican food, you will love Aca Taco. It's a smaller place, and is set up in the cafe style (order, grab food, take back to table), so sometimes it may be hard to find a table, but you can always call in an order to go.
I was always a huge fan of the Aca Nachos, which are some of the best nachos I've found in Chico. Theme: MexicanPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: 1000 W Sacramento Ave, Chico, CA 95926

The Black Crow has succumbed to the hardships of this down-turned economy and has closed its doors. It was a good place, with good food, lively fun, and a good location, but it just couldn't survive. So we have to say goodbye to one of Chico's icons.

The location of this great pizzeria is its best asset next to its great slices! You won't find all the fluff you see at Round Table. But you will see the people lining up out the door to get a slice of "The Godfather" or other wonderfully prepared pies. And there is no doubt that once you hear the East Coast accent that Celestino (yes, it's really his name, and the "C" is pronounced "Ch" as in Cello) has, that his pizza is authentic. The restaurant originally was a small wedge in the northwest corner of the building at Salem Street and 1st Street. (Smack dab in the middle of the busiest intersection at Chico State). Since then, the place has taken over the former coffee shop next door, took out the common wall and opened it up to more seating, another coffee counter, large plasma TVs for sports and the old world Italian pizzeria flavor that you expect. In July 2005, I was sitting in a pizzeria on the corner 33rd Street & 3rd Avenue in Manhattan. No kidding. I was there for the 4th of July show on the East River. And this was every bit as good as Celestino's. :)
Godfather Pizza slice. I think its the dab of fresh prepared pesto on each slice. The dough is prepared by traditional methods and is thrown in the air like a real pizzeria. Try that at Round Table! Oh, and you won't have to buy an entire pizza to enjoy it. Where most pizza houses charge from $5.00 to $25.00 for a pizza, you can get away from Celestinos for less than $5 with a drink. Nice going! Oh...and they deliver. Check out the sawdust covering the floor! Good breakfasts, usually packed, great options for dinner & lunch too! (Two locations)
Some salad w/ salami- very good, fresh, fills you up! Good calzones too! & then there's the Ferrari sandwich ( I think that's what it is called) ... all if it is pretty good... Well, you haven't really experienced Chico till you have had Jon n' Bon's. It's got a great location downtown by the city park, and good food too: build your own frozen yougurt. It's got lots of flavors of delicious frozen yougurt, and a ton of really good toppings. Chico gets plenty hot in the summer, so grab something from this place an go enjoy some music in the park.
Something chocolatey with chunky chocolatey stuff on top.

Kona’s is a nice little, local (read: non-chain) coffee house and bakery located in Downtown Chico. The baked goods and sandwiches are perfect for a lunch on-the-go. There’s also plenty of café-style seating for the dine-in experience and friendly service to boot. The Graduate is a longtime favorite in the community, especially with the college students. It’s known for burgers, beer and sports. Orders are taken at the counter then it’s a free-for-all to find a table. Waitresses (formerly clad in rollerskates) bring your food to the table for you. This place is always hopping and it can be often difficult to find a table. But it’s a great casual place to watch sports, hang out with friends and grab a beer. The burgers keep people coming back for more.
It's all about the burgers. Leave a Comment Theme: Pub/BreweryPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: 344 W. 8th St., Chico, CA 95928Phone: 530-343-2790
