The Streets Can Be Confusing!
Don't confuse the numbered "streets" with The Avenues, which run parallel to the "streets" but are north of Chico State.
Also, don't be confused by the changes in street names. For instance, one street I frequent has 5 different names: The Midway, Park Avenue, Main Street, Esplanade, and - finally - Highway 99. And that's just one example!
On top of that, the locals have different names for streets than the ones on the map. Highway 32 on the west side of town is "Nord Avenue" to the locals. I guess that's what happens when you have 2, 3, and 4 generations in a town. You can't change things, because everyone remembers the "old ways." :-)
Bad Attitude and Rehab A Must...
By his own admission, the poster below that wrote "Only Good Thing About Chico Is The Bars" is obviously someone that hasn't gone outside the bars to experience Chico. It is apparent that he complains about the very thing that he likes to get involved with: drinking, partying, being a drunkard, an expert on date rape, experienced in being arrested for open container and not really involved in doing his major studies at CSUC.
Too bad for him, but good for Chico that he decided to take his negative attitude with him to another school. I wonder what his GPA is? Anyone want to guess??
I've lived in Chico for 34 years. And though I've done my share of partying in the past, I was also wise enough to visit areas of Chico that have so much to offer. There are tourist traps everywhere in America, but I find it hard to actually find any in Chico that warrant a good scolding.
Oh...and below is a copy of the post by Boy Wonder - The Menace to Society:
Only good thing about chico is the bars

"As a former student, I can say the bars downtown are a blast. Just make sure you dont get stabbed at La Salles. Or jumped by some drunks while bar hopping from bar to bar or party to party. Downtown Chico is not the safest place. I have seen numerous people get jumped in the streets by groups of guys. And the date rate numbers are far higher than the state average. Not to mention, the education at CSUC sucks. The administration puts more money into attepting alcohol prevention than they put back into the students. Good luck morons, its chico! There is a major reason I transferred colleges. Oh yeah, dont be drunk around a cop or have a container of any kind unless you like being arrested, recieving large fines or losing your license for a full year if you are under 21. If in Chico, be careful! "
