The Hotel Del Coronado, Coronado
While organizing your time in San Diego or Coronado, include a stop at the Palm Court just off the lobby of the Hotel Del for an afternoon cocktail, soda or coffee with delicate pastries.
It is a luxurious way to relax. After 5:30 nightly there is piano entertainment and on Sudays they serve Victorian High Tea between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
The Palm Court opens to the Garden Patio and I almost always bring visitors here for a drink a the end of a tour. To my way of thinking, it is an elegant and inexpensive way to enter the evening hours.
Fondest memory: One of the duties I had while working for EF Foundation, was giving private tours of the San Diego area to prospective clients, or tour leaders.
Many times, at the end of a day showing them Seaport Village, Balboa Park, Horton Plaza and the beach in Coronado, I'd end with a tour of the museum beneath the Hotel Del--which is now housed at the History Museum on Orange Avenue--a walk on the promenade and last, a relaxing moment at the lounge off the lobby where they could look out at the courtyard or watch the activity generated in the lobby of one of the worlds best hotels. It was an impressive way to end the day.
If you have the time, send away for a vistor guide of the local area. They are usually sent free and are filled with loads of information. Well worth it!

Favorite thing: You should definitely visit the Hotel Del Coronado. If you like the beach check out one of America's finest, Coronado Beach. To soak up the generally upscale and laid back atmosphere of the island, take a stroll along the main drag, Orange Avenue.

Fondest memory: The wonderful clean & quiet Coronado beach, with the magnificent Hotel Del in the background!!!
