Local traditions and culture in Coronado

I don't know (not my business hehe) what this guy on my picture bought. But in my homecountry my shoppings are usually packed in smaller or bigger plastic bags, not paper ones :-).

Hmm... not so easy to park a car just in front of a store, am I wrong?

In most touristy places I already visited you are not allowed to seat down by a table in any restaurant and not to order anything. Usually in a few seconds there is a waiter with menu asking you to order drinks first.
Hmm... does it work another way in Coronado? Look at my picture!

In most restaurants it is not okay to take up a table without ordering something. At the Sun Deck it didn't really mattter because the Deck is not only for eating or drinking. It is also a place for the guests to enjoy the view.

I wonder very, very much who lives in that house with an American and Polish flag outside.

Hmmm... as i remember there was a sign "NO stopping any time" in front of the house (pics are made from a moving car hehe) - no wonder, it was one of the main roads in Coronado Island.

So, are there any Polish-Americans living there? or ?

Hmm... it seems that there are many people with Polish roots living in the USA and NOT only in Chicago and the East.
No wonder, as I know there are approx. 10 mln of Polish Americans. And 50% Polish families in Poland has relatives in the USA.

Hmm... I used to see them red but not in Coronado, hydrants in Coronado are painted in furious (is it correct word?) yellow.
Hmm... as I know human eye is the most sensitive for yellow colour. But does it mean that all cars should be painted in yellow? :-)))

By the way do they have many fires there?

P.S. Notice red colour of a kerb (do you say a curb in the USA?) on my picture - it means: NO PARKING ANY TIME!

This sign tells you how to get off the island, by going over the Coronado Bridge.

The bridge was built in 1969 and there was a toll of $1.00 going each way, to help pay for the building of the bridge. Within a few short years the bridge was paid off. Instead of reducing the toll, they only charged for cars going into Coronado--it was free leaving.

Now there is a toll of $1.00 for cars with only one person in the car, coming into Coronado. Two or more enter without cost, and leaving is still free. Are you getting the message?

Well, don't worry, it's mainly the residents who seem to want to keep Coronado to themselves.

The merchants, hotel keepers and restaurant owners who will always make you feel welcomed and wanted. Come and enjoy.

No charge for crossing the bridge going either way anymore.
