Shops of all kinds, places to drink and eat, from cafe mocha to fine dining, wading in the bay, picnicing on the grass or sand, listening to the sounds of local musicians, all offered at the Ferrylanding Market Place.
This is a rather touristy place I admit. Get off the Ferry and you're smack dab in the clutches of this trap! However, is it a trap? Are you stuck here with nothing but cheap souvenirs and expensive restaurants? No!
Stuck here? Not really. Rent a bike and ride the full width and length of the Island to see anything you'd like.
Cheap souvenirs? Well, maybe a few, but also there are specialty shops that offer things not found in the discount stores or department type stores. A collection of English and Scottish items can be found in one shop as well as samples of genuine American-Indian music and art in another shop.
Expensive restaurants? Well, yes, a few. However they are worth the expenditure IMO. Keep in mind that there are other choices that won't deplet the pocket-book. You could even walk across the street to the grocery store and pick up something for a nice picnic, walk back and sit on the grass or sand to enjoy the sun, ocean breeze and the bayside activity. A place to go shopping in the small cute stores that
has everything...
Also a nice little boardwalk with beautiful views of San Diego and Coronado bridge, especially at night.
Many restaurants nearby....

What to do there? Eat in a few restaurants around, lie or sit on a grass and admire the beautiful skyline, Pacific bay, watch people etc.

Ferrylanding is the name of the area around the Ferrylanding Dock. Besides that which you mentioned, there are also stores in this area. These stores are mainly for tourists, and it is possible to rent bikes here also.
