We went to the Trees of Mystery so that we could, of course, solve the Mystery. The Mystery was how the hell anyone's ever been able to hike the down trail off the gondola ride without suing the place! It's super steep. They told us that we'd probably be ok since we seemed athletic enough, but I hung on to the roped side of the trail most of the way down. Weird.
Plus the whole "park" is weird. It's almost disneyland-esque with painted trail markers, fenced off pathways, talking statues, etc.
The gift shop is, surprise, at the end of the trail and chock full of WAY overpriced items. Including, the very popular, burl creations.
It's $15 and I'm not sure it's worth it. Although there is a huge statue of Babe the Blue Ox in front that you can take a picture of as you hang from his huge balls. Funny.
While in the parks, watch for bears!! We were there in off season and were virtually alone with the fresh 'bear droppings.'
And as this sign plainly indicates -- there's a real threat of Tsunami's. Who would have thought?
