Tucked in the back of "Reastaurant Row" in the harbour, you have to look for this place. It's very plain, but the food is fantastic. They offer freshly baked NY Rye bread, that you usually have to wait for as it's comming out of the oven. The sandwiches are huge and make 2 meals (or share only with someone special). The chicken soup is home made, not from a can, and you could not make better yourself. Be sure to have the kosher dill pickles that the waitresses drop on the table a you sit down. The pickles are the real deal, salty and snappy: they crack when they break. The steak fries are served well cooked, a dark golden brown, not mushy lite. Bring your appetite, cause you'll need every bit of it.
Try the Ruben, a Corned beef or the pastrami sandwich. All are lean, tasty and just done right. With the waitresses accents, you'll swear that you're in Manhatten. Perched on top of the steep sandstone bluffs over looking Dana Point Harbor, Cannons has amazing views both day and night. On sunny days we like to lunch outside under an umbrella. At night I would recommend making an advance reservation for a window seat. in the Dining Room. The view of the coastal city lights from Dana Point to San Clemente is spectacular.
Cannons is known for serving a good steak and a great mud pie ,but we go here mainly for the amazing view !! Leave a Comment

The Harbor Grill is a California casual restaurant .The seafood is very fresh & well prepared.The dining room is tastefully decorated and has an open kitchen where you can see your food being prepared and grilled from your table. There is a piano in the entry which can be heard both inside and out. There is a small patio area next to a pedestrian walkway with just a hint of a water view.There are other seafood restuarants in the harbor with much better views. But for the freshest and best tasting seafood, in my opinion the Harbor Grill has the competition beat ! Leave a Comment

When we lived in Dana Point we used to go down to the Harbor for dessert. At the Coffee Importers they not only serve coffee drinks they have several nice desserts to chose from. One of our favorites is an ice cream cone from the Scoop Deck, located in the Coffee Importers Shop. From their patio you can watch people walking skating and pushing strollers along the path that winds around the Harbor.It is very pleasant to sit under the umbrellas on a sunny day or under the stars on a warm summer night. Watch the boats go by as you dine inside or on the patio. The menu has fish & chips, salads, sandwiches and seafood dishes .
They have a Happy Hour midweek from 4:00 - 7:00 with a discount drink and appetizer menu. I like meet friends there at around 6:00 so we can also enjoy watchigng a beautiful sunset over the harbor. Leave a Comment

Turk's is a cute little place near the water. It's one of many places you can get a bite to eat or a drink.

Splashes is this great restaurant at the Surf and Sand Hotel, an upscale hotel in Laguna Beach. The restaurant is literally RIGHT on the beach. There are actually stairs from the restaurant that will take you onto the sand!! The service is great and the view is SPECTACULAR!! This place is known as one of the most amazing views in town!! Actually, THE MOST amazing view in town! Their menu changes daily, but everything is good.
