Safety in Davis
Davis is a safe town, where crime is relatively infrequent. However, you should be aware when you're walking out alone in the middle of the night, like anywhere else in the world, as well as be aware of large groups of college students who might have had a little too much to drink out on the town. The Davis Police Department polices the town and are very helpful if you need anything. The campus is policed by the UC Davis Police.
If anything about being aware of safety in Davis, please be aware of pedestrians and bicyclists if you're driving, or the other way around if you're on foot. If you're aware of your surroundings and who's around, you'll do just fine.
If you have any emergencies, always call 911

Watch out for bike riders (I'm one of them.) There are more bicycles than cars in Davis. The traffic laws are enforced more than most drivers are used to, and the posted speed limits are lower than you might expect on similar streets in other towns. There are many foreign drivers (students and faculty at the University of California, Davis) and they are often used to other driving rules.
