The formation of Devil's Golf Course
Favorite thing: … adds a kind of third dimension to the flat middle part of Death Valley bassin.
It’s pinnacles of salt are covered with white slit. Water, which floods the valley from time to time, carries dissolved material, which recombines into various salts (such as carbonates, chlorides, sulphates). When their concentration reaches a critical level, salts crystallize out of the solutions, and as soon as the water evaporates, the typical crusty pinnacles are formed.

Favorite thing: Devil’s Golf Course
A right turn on the main road on to a clay road beside you and at the end of this road you can see al kinds of crystal forms on the ground. These crystals are formed by salt.

Favorite thing: go to The Devil's Golf Course.
The sign says:
Crystalized salts compose the jagged formations of this forbidding landscape. Deposited by ancient salt lakes and shaped by winds and rain, the crystals are forever changing.
Listen carefully. On a warm day you may hear a metallic cracking sound as the salt pinnacles expand and contract.
Sergiuz's General Tip
Fondest memory: the main picture of this page was taken at the Devil's Golf Course, located in the lower part of the park and formed by salt pools surrounded by the salt pan whose surface is covered with unique jagged rock salt spikes, formed by the extreme evaporation in the valley. Be careful not to fall over this terrain, 'cause the conglomerated salt crystals are so rough and sharp that they could hurt you (i.e. mind your knees and elbows!)
