Part of Death Valley National Park, Panamint Valley lies west of Death Valley and features a perfectly straight road down one side of the mountains for about 6 miles, across the dunes of the valley floor, and up the mountain on the other side. Of course, once Hwy 190 enters the mountains it becomes twisty-turny with lots of switchbacks and hairpin turns, as well as not enough guardrails.
