Sports Bar is the key. Jimmy O's is opened from 4:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. every day and offers drinks and dinners, except during (American) Football season. When football begins, Jimmy O's opens at 9:00 a.m. and offers breakfast with your drinks.
In the evenings, Jimmy O's morphs from sports bar to a dance place so get there early and stay on for an evening of fun.
Whether you are a sports fan or not this is a place to consider, but be sure to arrive before 9:30 p.m. on weekend nights, if you'd rather not stand in line while waiting to get in. Yes, it's that popular, even celebrities drop-in occasionally, but I've missed out on that. However, the vivacious crowd is always entertaining!
Dress Code: Designer casual is the norm if you want to make an impression.
This restaurant , situated on the beach has a close-up view of the ocean which makes it worth a visit and it's quite popular.
During daylight hours, the inside looked shabby and disappointing. They may have refurbished it by now. The prices have gone up and that is in-keeping with the over-all image Del Mar displays as a swank resort town.
The walled-in, heater dotted patio for dining al fresco, is my suggestion, as the pleasure of a casual dinner is increased by the smell and breeze of the ocean. However, if that extra ambiance is not to your liking, most tables in the building offer a view, through it's many windows, of beach and further on, ocean. Sunset is the best time to be here.
The food was not remarkable, but good enough. Breakfast is served on weekends. Lunch and Dinner served everyday of the week.
Dress Code: Casual dress is acceptable, but as with most of Del Mar, the local clientele tend to dress up a bit.
