Business casual with an Hawaiian flare, this restaurant is very poplular as one of only two restaurants in Del Mar that is actually located on the beach. The shame is that they have enclosed the patio. The view is the same but if you prefer open-air dining as I do, the patio will be disappointing. However, it would be a very good thing on a rainy day.
The prices are about average for the area, but high if you're on a budget. Seafood and American cuisine is offered during lunch and dinner and they have a full service bar.
Favorite Dish:
Happy Hour is the the best time to come. A limited bistro menu is offered at half-price and Mai Tais are only $3.00. Monday through Friday the Happy Hour is from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 4:30pm.
Jake's truly has a spectacular oceanfront view and friendly staff. I've been there many times and never have been let down by the food or the service.
Favorite Dish:
The swordfish, best I've had anywhere, including Hawaii!
