    ICE PLANT

I have never seen (or I've forgotten) such plants as on my picture.- blooming flowers among thick leaves. Hmm... how is it called in English?

They grow along the Pacific beaches and coast not only in Del Mar.

    Comment by VICKI (Expresso):
The ground cover with thick fleshy leaves and beautiful yellow flowers is called "Ice Plant".
    Thank you Vicki.

    From LINDA (lmqluque):
This is commonly known as "ice plant." This type is "Carpobrotus" a sturdy plant that can live in sand and is usually found in beaches in California.
    Thank you Linda.

    Comment by JESSICA (jessicadf):
Ice plant also grows in S. Africa, I found out last July. It is a very common plamt in California, as it is a good groundcover against fire.
    Thank you Jessica.

    PALM TREES

Admire beautiful palm trees growing along the beach and around Del Mar. As I know they are not forced to water them - natural moisture and rains are enough for them.

One more thing: they look much better (at least for me) than much more known thin and tall palm trees of Hollywood (the area around as well :-).
