    White sands

The beach in El Segundo is a very clean beach and in areas the beach is empty.

During the weekdays you will find nobody there and you will have the beach to yourself but during the weekend in the summer this place is full of tourist and locals soaking up the sun.

    downtown El Segundo, CA
    1 more image

El Segundo has one of the most quaint, walkable downtown areas in greater Los Angeles. The feeling of old town America is truly celebrated. If you love the absence of chain shops and cafes presence of small mos and pops, you'll be very pleased here. Grab a coffee and a bite at the local cafe, like the Main St Cafe pictured, and enjoy the scene.

    Recreation Park

This park is on Grand Avenue near the downtown area. It is where you will find most offices of the El Segundo Recreation Department. There are tennis courts, basketball courts, and places to play racquetball, roller hockey and lawn bowling. Looked like a nice place to just relax too.

    El Segundo Beach

Since El Segundo is on the Pacific there is also a beach. The windy, steep road leading to the beach wanders through some ugly industrial area but once you get to the beach it gets prettier. You have to pay for parking in the lot by the beach.

In the downtown area there is a Wall of Honor dedicated to citizens of El Segundo who have made a contribution "to the community of Mankind" and a Walk of Honor consisting of circles placed along the sidewalk on Main Street mentioning individuals and businesses of El Segundo.

    The

In my old job; a visit to HQ was not usually a good thing and did not end well. Not so when you are in El Segundo and stop in at VT Headquarters. G and the gang are a great bunch (although I do not guarantee mimosas when you visit). It is worth the time to see where it all happens, and meet the people behing the site.

    Beach sign

There is a very good beach at the end of Grand Blvd. Be careful with parking there as sometimes the police will ticket you if you do not pay. The beach for the most part is empty except for the surfers and kite flyers.

  • Sing Along At The Old Time Music Hall

    by steve_in_redondo Written May 18, 2006
    Old Town Music Hall

Forget Disneyland. Take your kids to the Old Town Music Hall instead. Each show starts with a sing along and the music of the "Mighty Wurlitzer" pipe organ. Then there's a number of old time comedy shorts followed by an old feature film. I guarantee that you will never find a place like this anywhere else. The price is right at about $7 a person. The theater is only open Friday night, Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday afternoon. Some Sunday evenings they have a live concert with most musicians performing ragtime on one or more grand pianos. For the live performances it's around $20 a seat but you can usually get a seat really close to the stage.

For more details go to www.otmh.org. The theater is a non profit organization.

    L.A. Kings practices

by janders Written Jul 5, 2004

L.A. Kings practices (during the hockey season) are open to the public, and the two ice rinks are open for the public to use.
HealthSouth Tranning Center is open year round and has two ice rinks and a roller hockey rink.
The public CAN NOT view the lakers practice or even see the lakers players. So don't even try it.
El Segundo also host many times a year major production filming in the city.
The High School is another main point of intrest in the town. You can also go on top of Imperial hill to view the jets at LAX or go down to the beach
