Emerald Bay State Park Favorites

Favorite thing: I didn't expect the park to be open yet, but I wasn't there to go into the visitors center. The lake is open 24-7, and so is the trail.

It's just the constructs of man that have business hours, or tourists seans. Well, and the road that you can see in this picture is closed in the winter.

Fondest memory: But as you can see from this picture, the winter wonderland is nearly gone. Just a few patches of snow here and there is all that is left as of May 1, 2004. Yet, it could still snow they say. In fact, just a week ago there was snow flurries at Reno's elevation.

Favorite thing: Above Emerald Bay, one of the places to stop is at Eagle Falls where you can see the view from the stream there. If you're willing to climb around on the rocks you can see parts of the top of the water fall close up...

Fondest memory: You can't see all the way over the falls unless you are willing to climb all the way down to the last of the big smooth rocks... scary!
