Received an invite from our friends to join them for dinner at The Original San Crab Tavern. The location is off the map (so to speak) but once you find it, it’s really a very cool place to hang out, drink beer and eat seafood. They have a pretty extensive menu, but since there were four of us and we all like seafood, decided to do the San Crab Combo (original seafood boil served family style).
Favorite Dish: Started off with Calamari Strips (hand dipped in their special batter & perfectly fried). As previously mentioned, we decided to have the King Crab/Big Easy Mud Bug Combo (Alaskan King Crab legs peel & eat shrimp, Louisiana Crawfish, Louisiana sausage, red skin potatoes and corn-on-the-cob dumped on your table). Finished off the meal with a slice of Key Lime Pie with Whipped Cream (authentic key lime pie in a buttery graham cracker crust).

Took the motorcycle out for a ride with a friend of mine and we decided to head inland...so went on Yelp and looked up coffeehouses in Escondido. EscoGelato received some nice reviews, so set the GPS destination and headed there. They have everything from coffee and homemade gelato to panini's and desserts. Located in the heart of Escondido on a nice quiet side street, it's a great place to sit outside and relax or sit inside and chat with the owners as well as other customers. Overall, a very nice place serving delicious food and drinks.
Favorite Dish: I ended had the Deedo Panini (sliced chicken, provolone, roasted red peppers, avocado, mayo and pesto) and a cup of coffee....ummm, ummm, good!!! (NOTE: while getting a second cup of coffee, started talking to a regular who said that I should also add caramelized onions to my panini...maybe next time).

Filipi´s is a casual Italian eatery located in oldtown Escondido. They have everything from pizza, pasta, salads, etc. No reservations necessary but you could wait up to 25 minutes on busy nights especially Friday. Pizza is also available for takeout.
Favorite Dish: I like the pizza here because it has generous amounts of cheese!!

New American cuisine with classical French, California, Latino and some Asian influences.
I had heard so many wonderful descriptions of 150 Grand Cafe from the ambience, to the food, to the service and I finally had an opportunity to try it myself.
It may be a bit over-rated because there are not many upscale restaurants in Escondido, besides Vincent's Sirino's, that is. But the food was very good! The interior was very clean and even fancy with its white table linens and napkins, almost a little sterile. I was there for lunch, and would bet it's more romantic in the evening with low light and soft music.
Owned by couple Stephanie and Carlton Greenawalt. She is the general manager and he is the chef. The menu includes selections of appetizers like pate, soups like a thai hot and sour lobster soup, salads such as a crab cobb salad, entrees like orzo with rock shrimp, and of course a full list of delicious sounding desserts. Next time my friend and I will go back just for dessert and coffee.
While the service was a bit slow, it was comfortable and gave our large party a nice chance to catch up and enjoy each others' company. Not a place to go if you're trying to clock back into work within an hour.
Favorite Dish: The Carmel and Spice roasted chicken breasts with wild brown rice and baby carrots was amazing. The sweet and spicy flavor of the sauce was excellent with the nutty, chewy rice. The chicken was cooked to perfection, crisp outside and moist inside. Definitely a good choice.

The Orfila Winery is not exactly a restaurant. It was the only place I ate at in Escondido and I liked it. I had a small loaf of bread with herbs and cheeses baked in to it and sampled some of their wine. Had heard of California wines before so I thought this is a place I should visit. The Orfila Winery is located on San Pasqual Road near the Wild Animal Park.
