WOW!!! Little did I know how much I would enjoy touring a candy factory and in of all places, Fairfield, California. First, let me inform those that don't know, this was the official jelly bean of the President of the United States of America, Ronald Reagan.

That's saying a mouthful of jelly beans. From the moment you arrive at the parking lot, you sense a little fun is in store, because there sits a VW bug with jelly belly designs all over it, right in front of the factory entrance. Inside is a child's (of any age) dream come true.

FREE SAMPLES AND FREE TOURS. Jelly Belly beans, Jelly Belly shirts, Jelly Belly pictures, Jelly Belly everything, even the hamburgers at the restaurant are shaped like Jelly Belly beans. I'm Jelly Bellied out but what a trip to candyland this was. A must see for every child and every child in us.

In fact, as I write this, I am enjoying several wonderful flavors of Jelly Belly beans. Ummm. This one is coconut. Sorry about that. Mis-direction. See my travelogue on the Jelly Belly Company for more pics.

Near Napa Valley, the wine country, flows the beer country. Anheuser-Busch Brewery, in Fairfield, only 20 minutes from Napa, has tours of the plant which include free tastings.

The brewing is the story of the tour, with the process and complimentary tastings of their products. You get to visit the beechwood aging cellar and the production floor, getting to see the high-speed packaging of the beers. If you are looking for a little extra on your wine country trip, then visit the beer country of Budweiser. A gift shop is also on the premises. Cheers.

Fairfield is fortunate in having retained its old courthouse and county buildings, in a nice complex downtown with new government facilities in an attractive new building next to the old ones. The whole area is interesting and quite grand.

The best place in Fairfield to eat is at Marie Calenders!! It has awesome food and great service!
The price is reasonable for a sit down place and the atmosphere is very home oriented. They have wonderful staff and if you go around holidays, they have special things in the store.

Favorite Dish: I love the teryaki chicken that they have. It is the best ever
