    Sashimi & Cookie Face

Sashimi (black) & Cookie Face (spotted)

Favorite thing: This was completed 12/14/02. It's acrylic and oil on wood with Japanese text and a postmark collaged in the background....a painting of my two Japanese Oranda goldfish. I have 5 fish total - 2 huge orandas, 1 small telescope eye, 1 loach, 1 albino catfish & 2 snails. I think there will be more fish paintings to come.

    Nice small town feel

    Walking

Favorite thing: One of the best things we like about Fullerton is the small town feel and the feeling of being safe here. You can walk the old town area and not have to keep looking over your shoulder all the time.

The town has an old area located at Harbor and Chapman Ave, which I recommend walking around.

There is plenty of parking off Chapman Ave.

Fondest memory: This is a collage town so there is plenty of bars and places to listen to music and to be seen.

I like all the food places in town and have not found a bad one yet.

    Villa del Sol (plaza), California

Favorite thing: Downtown/ Villa del Sol

When in Fullerton, go to the lovely Villa del Sol and pick up the Experience Fullerton Magazine. it has plenty of city info and even better, discounts for city establishments like restaurants, some that are a bit pricey downtown. One featured coupon is the Platinum Card. It's free and anyone can use it!

Discover Fullerton's Love for the Fox

    old Fox theater, Fullerton (California)

    Favorite thing: Fox Theater

See my travelogue for my pictures and website for a fuller overall picture of the Fox !!

Everytime passing downtown along Harbor Blvd in Fullerton, I see the old movie house, Fox Theater, and wonder why is it not a fully functional building for the arts. The exterior has made some major progress since when I first laid my eyes, just a few years ago. The look is rustic and captures the old romance of Hollywood. No blinding neon lights like those of the multi-plex movie houses here. Only I can imagine how it's like inside since it is not yet restore an open for the public to enjoy. There is a passionate effort for this but the project is suffering from politics and money crunch (a money crunch for such a fine OC town like this-amazing!). At least when riding down south on Harbor on your way down to Disneyland, seek out the beautiful/tragic Fox.

Fondest memory: Something to remember here is the passion for history, such as what it has compared to, say, China. For example, the cause to restore the downtown Fox Theater near the intersection of Harbor Blvd and Chapman Ave.has been passionately pursued by many residents and admirers of Fullerton.

Watch Free Theater Movies at the Fullerton Library

by marinarena Written May 16, 2014

    Favorite thing: Free Fullerton Events!

If in town in Fullerton during the week, why not catch a movie? It's free. Every first Wednesday of the month and each Thursday, there are matinees playing at the wonderfully run Fullerton Library. The first Wed. is dedicated to an independent film, often widely acclaimed. Thursday movies are geared towards family-friendly, esp classic Disney flicks.

Films are viewed at the Osbourne Auditorium, the venue also for occasional special appearances by famous authors and others.
