    Visit VT Headquarter

by Sharrie Written Feb 25, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Visit VT Headquarter in SANTA MONICA. A beautiful city with the most beautiful sunset I've ever seen!

Make time to visit the Getty Museum & UCLA. I'll definitely be back for these 2 institutions.

Fondest memory: Meeting the VT management group for the very first time! A great dinner as well, thanks! :)

    Drive

by Sharrie Written Feb 25, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: Drive. Yes, drive! Almost everywhere one needs the wheels to get around. It's a huge state & lots of traffic jams in the major cities as well. So, plan ahead for meetings & make allowances for the amount of time required to travel to each destination & the number of sites to be visited in a day!

LOS ANGELES (L.A.) is a fun city to be in if you have a car. Drive the kids to Disneyland, Universal Studios or Knotts Berry Farm. As for the adults, especially the ladies, they can go shopping at boutiques in Beverly Hills.

Fondest memory: It was years ago since I've toured the city of Los Angeles. My fondest memory is not of the place but the food! I remembered having one of the best Vietnamese noodle (Pho) here! Wish I could remember the name of the restaurant!

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: In L.A. (the ... 'palmfullest' city i've ever seen) u absolutely must see the following:

    1) The wonderful and long, long beaches, where u can find quite anything, from pigeons to roller coasters (i', not kidding, go to Santa Monica Pier if u don't believe me)
    2) Beverly Hills is not as magnificient as they describe it. It is strange, however, how they keep their gardens.
    3) The Hollywood sign and the walk of fame are not this wonderfull as they put it, but no doubt once in LA a visit there is a must.
    4) I liked a lot the Universal Studios (u gotta spend an entire day over there, it's simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G).
    5) I did not like Disneyland, perhaps because it was too crouded, perhaps because of the stressing HOT.
    6) Along the seaside, u must go to Venice, a very nice place nut be very VERY carefull 'cause it's dangerous over there. The area teams with thieves and strange people, so there is a costant police patroling (there are policemen with sedans, bikes, offroad cars, and even an helicopter!!!)
    7) Go visiting downtown, it dangerous in the night but preatty cool in the morning.

    BEVERLY HILL

I had to go walking along Rodeo Drive and see all that glamour area with all the expensive shops at that world-famous *drive* to stores on Beverly Drive and the Wilshire Corridor, as well as the quaint, independent stores tucked away on Robertson and Little Santa Monica Boulevards.

I also had lunch up the little Rodeo Drive in a cosy café.

I searched Hollywood Star's homes...but once there you can't see that much or anything as they are very well guarded or/and mostly behind walls or heavy vegetation!

What a wonderful feeling to be here in the oh so famous city of *Angels* and Hollywood's Stars!

Just driving along *Santa Monica Boulevard* while listening to Sheryl Crow singing: *...all I wanna do is have some fun...until the sun comes up over Santa Monica Boulevard* on the radio!

Santa Monica Town served as base from where we drove around the area and visited Los Angeles twice.

    Favorite thing:

Not much time to spend here either and too cold to go on the beach - just a quick tour of the city and back on the road towards Santa Monica.

Notice the setting: me, the trashcan, the lonely palmtree...and the empty beach...but what a blue sky!

Favorite thing: You gotta go thru Hollywood. It's just the tradition to see the sidewalks with the stars Handprints etc... We took the tour that showed the stars homes. But most of the stars don't live in Hollywood anymore. Missions were a nice way to walk and chill out. They are very historical and most of them well preserved and still in use.

Fondest memory: The ocean of course! This is along the Point Lobos State Reserve. You can see the great grey whales from this point when their in the area. Also sea otters and sea lions.

  • Visit Huntington Beach in the...

by rgvandewalke Written Aug 26, 2002

Favorite thing: Visit Huntington Beach in the summer. This is the least pretentious, most fun of three majorly famous California beaches, and one of the best surfing beaches anywhere. (The other two, in my opinion are Venice Beach, in Venice California, and Malibu Beach)

The best time to visit is mid-summer. Winter is more suited to poets-- it is cloudy, cool and we occasionally have violent weather. Like most of Coastal California, we only have two seasons, a winter, 'rainy' season from October to May (50-60F, mild drizzle every couple weeks, and overcast about half the time), and summer, 'sunny' season, (60-90F. and wear light clothing, a hat and sunblock)

Huntington Beach consists of three sections. The center of the beach is the City beach, run as a park. Buy snacks and sandwiches in a grocery store, and save, because the concessions are expensive! There's professional life-guards, volleyball, pretty girls, handsome guys, and real surfing. Surfing is usually limited to the northern side of the pier after 7am. There are web cams and i-net surf reports.

There are also two state beaches, one north and one south. There's a small entrance fee, and a lot less services, but there are fire-rings to build a camp-fire. I see the most campers on the north beach.

Fondest memory: I'm a sometime mountaineer, and I'm very partial to the Sierra Nevadas. I was at the top of Kern Pass at sunset (11,000 feet, not for the faint of heart). On one side, a Sierra Wallflower was growing on a sheer 3000-foot rock wall. On the west side, lit by golden sunlight, I had a view down to the Bullfrog lakes, set in a beautiful meadow, within a piney forest. I cried because it was so beautiful. Of course, I -could- have been anoxic, and was certainly tired...
