Applebees is clearly the most popular of the Bar and Grill chain of restaurants here in the United States (in Asia it is the TGIFridays, they don't know Applebee's yet, but they both offer the same experience). It is even more numerous than Dave and Busters or Hooters. The Chain is currently owned by the Venerable IHOP company at present. Their concept focuses on casual dining with mainstream American dishes such as salads, shrimp, chicken, pasta, and "riblets" (which is considered Applebee's signature dish). All Applebee's restaurants feature a bar area and serve alcoholic beverages (except where prohibited by law).
Opens: 10:00 am to 10:00 pm Sundays
11:00 am to 11:00 pm Mon-Thurs

Favorite Dish: unless you're on a diet, then try their weight watchers menu or the under 550 calories menu too but if you are a glutton like me, then go for the steaks or ribs or the pastas, costing from $ 18 to $ 30 an order and get cocktails at $ 9 of Local Beers at $ 5 a bottle.

While you will find food booths throughout the Garlic Festival, the center of the action, and easily the busiest spot is called Gourmet Alley--home of the official festival food. Here you will find everything from garlic bread to garlic sausage, garlic chicken stir fry, garlic calamari, garlic shrimp, and much more. Prices range from $2 for garlic bread to $7 for garlic calamari and $12 for a great combo meal that will leave you very happy and smelly.
Laura and I each had one of th garlic combos. She got the garlic sausage sandwich with garlic mushrooms, garlic stir fry, garlic scampi and garlic bread. I had the other combo that featured a garlic pepper steak sandwich with garlic mushrooms, garlic pesto pasta, garlic calamari, and garlic bread. The food was all excellent, but I particularly liked the mushrooms and the calamari. What a great feast for the price.... as long as you get the combo and not the individual dishes. A tiny bowl of calamari was $7 by itself and the $12 combo meal had about the same amount of calamari.
It is said that the festival serves about 28,000 loaves of garlic bread and 10,000 orders of garlic mushrooms each year. All of this is made using 4,000 pounds of garlic from Christopher Ranch, the official garlic provider of the festival.

Come hungry to this place or be prepared to take home leftovers! OMG were we surprised at the size of their portions, but not by their prices. Wonderful food with a great big smile. We just loved this place. Wish we would have had more time to sample more of their menu.
