Love Ride is an annual event that literally makes big noise. As the biggest one day motorcycle charity fundraising event of the world, the Love Ride always gathers much attention. Movies are always entertaining. And now, some movies are even more spectacular than ever with 3D imaging. Not all theaters can accomodate 3D movies but the Mann Theater in Glendale can. Please don't confuse this with the IMAX theaters. The IMAX is a gigantic screen. Sometimes you can see 3D movies on an IMAX screen but not in all cases. This is a...more
In a few words, The Americana at Brand is grand and exquisite. This May, just over a week of its official grand opening, I visited The Americana (emphasized "the" when speaking of this place) with an anticipated mixed bag of thought and emotion. What I do enjoy the most about this new locale is its inviting feel that encorages people to get out and...more
Alex TheaterIt's nice to see and experience a real theater, not a cheesy modern reproduction. Alex Theater is a Glendale and greater Los Angeles landmark, established in 1925 as a Vaudville venue. I stumbled along this place one day while passing time shopping along Brand Blvd.Various theater and musical performances take place here, including a...more
There is a great bar just on the outskirts of Glendale. It is 1100 Miles South of Seattle, off the 5 freeway. It is the Roost. It's a dark, danky dive... over crowded with the Los Feliz set, but you can still hear Johnny Cash on the jukebox, and get Grey Goose for about $5.They used to allow smoking inside, but then they got busted for under-age...more

Well, this is a new restaurant in Glendale. Glendale has many ethnic restaurants so it seem like a nice addition to have an upscale restaurant with small plates and trendy atmosphere. What a disappointment! The food was extremely expensive for what you get. The food was just ordinary, nothing special. The service was so-so. It may be a while before...more
Just happen to notice this place and stopped to have some lunch. Very nice bar set up and they have a no nonsense menu of basic items such as burgers, sandwiches and appetizers. But don't let the menu fool you, they really make up a nice plate of food. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger but my boyfriend's pastrami sandwich was much tastier. The...more
We happen to be in the area and looked for a place to eat that served Italian cuisine. We thought we would check this one out. It appears to be a little more upscale than most but overall the food was about average. The restaurant appeared to be more of a night club atmosphere with a DJ that would probably play music at a later time in the evening....more
One of my favorite bars in Glendale is this Mexican bar called "Chuys". When I drink, I love to have something to eat, nothing heavy just something that goes well with a good pitcher of beer and that's why I love Mexican bars because you get chips and salsa which at a regular bar will probably cost you around $3.00 or more. The bar is located in...more

This will be my shopping tips.Since Opening in 2008, This new icon of Glendale cemented the city's reputation as the luxe big mall destination in the Greater Los Angeles Area (Beverly hills takes the cake in the ultra luxe shopping due to the Rodeo Drive) and in the small area of American Street, sits 3 big malls that offer shopping, malling,...more
This is a pretty big shopping mall. They have several stores such as Nordstroms, Macy's Abercrombie & Fitch, William Sonoma, Hugo Boss, Coach, Banana Republic, Everything but Water, Hot Topic, Lego, Target, Victoria Secret and Vans to name a few. On this particular visit, a week before Easter, the mall provided opportunities for children to be...more
What makes Glendale stand out is that it is home to a signifcant number of Armenian persons-the largest population outside of Armenia itself. As you walk down Glendale streets, you may very likely hear "barev" as well as "hello". How interesting to have a place to where it would be common to hear and experience all that is Armenian and also not be far away from what's Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, Korean, Russian, etc. Several shops have bilingual English-Armenian postings. Personally, I like the curving shape of the Armenian alphabet. See what I mean in this movie poster pictured! Armenian culture is well promoted at the renowned Alex Theater, which hosts a good number of plays, musical acts from Armenia throughout the year. Another way to experience Armenian culture is to try the food- at a restaurant like Raffi's or try a common Middle Eastern or kebob(kabob) restaurant in teh city which will likely have Armenian influence.
Coyote attacks on humans are uncommon and rarely cause serious injuries, due to the relatively small size of the coyote. In the 30 years leading up to March 2006, at least 160 attacks occurred in the United States, mostly in the Los Angeles County area. Since 1998 coyote attacks on humans have increased in the state of California. Data from USDA Wildlife Services, the California Department of Fish and Game, and other sources show that while 41 attacks occurred during the period of 1988–1997, 48 attacks were verified from 1998 through 2003. The majority of these incidents occurred in Southern California near the suburban-wildland interface.

This isn't exactly "Off the Beaten Path" as it is located at Americana at Brand shopping center. But, it's not a restaurant so I kinda think it's something you have to keep your eye out for. Called the Crepemaker, the French would have a heart attack if they saw what we do with crepes here. You can get a pizza crepe, crepe with filet mignon, crepes florentine with egg and sweet crepes as well. They don't serve it like the French either. They fold it up into a triangle and hand it to you to eat without utencils. You can grab a paper plate and plasticware but it's not offered. I must say, the crepes were delicious and very filling. Make sure to try one if you're in the area!

Favorite thing: With its congested Galleria as one of the most popular malls in the region, Glendale is a local favorite amongst Just outside of the Galleria there is downtown Glendale which has a long stretch of cultural and mindless fun along Brand Blvd. Check out the Glendale Exchange and Marketplace for main and commercial shopping. Along Brand, there are some unique boutiques as well.
